Hi Jayson,
That sounds like somehting that would happen at my house.
I remeber the day that my younger brother and I came home from school. In those days, we didn't lock the door. However, we came home at mid afternoon, or so, and the front door and the back door were locked.
We went around back and looked in through the kitchen window. The entire house was filled with smoke. (two stories w/full basement)
We were able to climb in through the kitchen window.
Dad had been home for lunch and he would make coffee with his lunch. He left the tea kettle on the stove and left the stove on. The kettle dried up and it was stuck to the burner. (Electric stove with coil burners)
We had windows and doors opened everywhere. Including basement windows.
We remedied the situation and then we were able to do our paper routes.
