Hello Cheryl Baxter,

Thanks for those respectful tributes to my mom and in fact, all mothers. We all know without mothers, the meaning of LOVE may not have been farthomed by many; they are the true sample of love.

Hey, I thought you were going to do a poem for me!!!!!!!!
Ah!! Just kidding my dear friend.

Kind regards and thanks for being such a caring friend!

Sami, hi again  !

Thanks to you, I won`t only become closer to Nigerian soccer :), but also to Nigerian poetry. I spent some time to google Nigerian poets translated in English. Wondering why is poetry always exposed to the naughty surgeons (that`s how I call poetic critics), I could found calling Nigerian poets as "copycats". WHAT WOULD THAT EVER MEAN?

For me - poetry is POETRY.

Here is an excerpt from Love Poem, written by Helon Habila (rewarded in 2001) :

... A peer of goddesses she seems to me
The lady who sits over against me
Face to face,
Listening to the sweet tones of my voice,
And the loveliness of my laughing.
It is this that sets my heart fluttering
In my chest,
For if I gaze on you but for a little while
I am no longer master of my voice,
And my tongue lies useless
And a delicate flame runs over my skin
No more do I see with my eyes;
The sweat pours down me
I am all seized with trembling
And I grow paler than the grass
My strength fails me
And I seem little short of dying....

Great, isn`t it?

Thanks for being an inspiration.

Copycat`s Hugs,

Branka
