My mother's father was named George, he died when my mother was 16, before my parents met each other.
My father's father was named Ben, he died when I was 7 years old, I only met him a few times because we lived 1,500 miles away but I remember he was very strict and serious, like my father. But my Dad smiles a lot, for sociability. I don't see the point of that, I don't smile for sociability, only when I feel like it!!
My favorite "fathers" were my oldest brother, Rick, he tried hard to be more of a good listener, and very patient and understanding, he raised 3 sons and did an outstanding job of it, even though he was a troubled teenager himself and gave my parents many sleepless nigtht!
...and my father-in-law, Karel, he passed away in 1991 and is still very greatly missed. He had a loud booming voice, Dutch accent, was raised in Indonesia of Dutch/Indonesian parents, was a fantastic cook and had an incredible personality, if we were the same age...!! LOL. Watch out!!
