JOE BUCCHERI TAKES A HARD LOOK AT TWITTER AND FACEBOOK
6/5/2009 9:02:55 AM

Now that FaceBook has become all the rage and Twitter has managed to sneak in via the back door to gain global Internet interest, not everyone is happy with how these two former marketing midgets have now grown into promotional giants. For me personally, I'm not that impressed with Twitter and it's ability to promote business. It's fun and unique, it's a fad for sure; it's also become boring and predictable just like the world's news. FaceBook on the other hand has those features that make it a ton of fun and holds your interest, in fact, it's helped me find most of my relatives from across the globe, as well as people that claim I still owe them a business lunch; two guys that tell me I use to beat them up in the sixth grade; I also got an email from the person that smashed my violin in 5th grade and cost my folks $200.

While the toys at FaceBook are certainly fun to engage and can enhance the over all experience, there seems to be something missing.

It's called respect !

Unlike installed safe zones that other social and business sites maintain, FaceBook has none. I have sent numerous messages to members of both FaceBook and Twitter asking them as nicely as I could to refrain from using vulgarity and insulting remarks when posting at my particular FaceBook and Twitter page. One would think you have that right. What I get back is much of the same disrespect and vulgarity. In fact, I took one of those quizzes offered at FaceBook, and scored 100%. It was a quiz on psychology. When I clicked on to get the results and found my score was 100%, it also came with one "F" word after another on every other line as some sort of  intended humor because I had a perfect score.

Call me a prude if you'd like but I don't enjoy such disrespect, or the language.

As a side note, and unless you live in a cave and have not been told, there is a rumor going around that Facebook and Twitter may soon be charging fees for their services. Tiny little fees that after awhile, will hit harder than filling up one's gas tank.

Over all, I've had some rather good experiences with FaceBook and as I said, I've located family members and past friends there as well. But when it comes to AdlandPro and this community, you can't go wrong. Sure, it's not filled with games or toys or the like; it is what it is, AD LAND... a place to promote and advertise to others, create and maintain friendships, and learn new and exciting ways to enhance those skills. Plus anyone who drops in vulgarity or unacceptable content here at ALP can have  their account trashed and banished forever. For me, it's good to know that the owners of ALP will not put up with unethical behavior or unfair business practices and who manage their business model with firm rules and regulations set in place.

I'm still working FaceBook since being asked to become more active there by a close friend of mine, and the same goes for MYSPACE and Twitter. I'll also begin having our interns go on over to BizzyBlogz and start that engine up again too. Now that an ADLANDER is their new CEO ( and a Christian man ), I know what to expect when it comes to the rules and in keeping them.

What was that paper I read about a world without rules... ?

Anyway, I thought I'd share my thoughts over what I find important to social engagement on the Internet... and in doing business. And yes, it's just one person's opinion, and I certainly look forward to your observations as well.

To your continued success,

Joe Buccheri

PS> Here are a few opportunities I engage. I offer them for your consideration.

Hello Joe,
I cancelled Facebook account last month, I would have sooner but was not enterested in it enough to go there and cancel.  The only reason I am still on MySpace is because that's the only link I have to my stepson and as soon as he logs into his account and confirms he has my email, I'm out of there. I no longer care to be associated with either one of them.
Have a great weekend,
Mary
