My Battle dealing with Multiple Sclerosis. My name is Michael Derowin, I was born Dec. 13th. 1959. I was Diagnosed with Relapse/Remittance Multiple Sclerosis in October of 2002. At the time I had to give up on my Profession of being a Chef in Hotels, Private Clubs and Restaurants. My Symptoms were not that severe in the beginning as they had started a few years before retiring.

I finally went to Social Services to get the help I needed in December of 2005. Then when I saw my Specialist I was Diagnosed with Secondary Progressive stage of Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.).I knew my M.S. had progressed before I even went back to see my Neurologist. There were too many muscle spasms and cramps in the arms/legs, to many ice cold to burning hot periods on the hands and feet to go along with them.

Dear Michael,

I can speak from my corner of the world, and can tell you that anyone with a noncurable desease mostly remains in the family and is cared for and loved no less. I am not sure how it works the other side of the globe. It makes me sad to know that people would look down  on a person and be so dis-compassionate.

On the other hand I have to commend you for the tenacity you have shown and inspite of your situation you bring so much joy to many here through your friendship and your poetry.

You are so very right you are NOT worthless, no one ever is, though the world sometimes might make us want to think so....but my friend, keep the faith, you are precious to the one who created you. You have a heart and thats where he looks :-)

Know that I appreciate us being friends, and wish and pray that life gets easier for you,  I believe in miracles, will be keeping you in prayer.

Dear Pauline,

I understand what you have said about Family coming together for those who need help with Love and Respect. Becoming a part of my Family again has made me see this in my own. We have always come together to help those who needed the help even tho we do not talk much any other time.

The Lord Almighty does look at the Heart of People and has given me the Challenge of a lifetime. This would be to see if my Faith would falter in the time of need which it has become stronger as time goes by. Being disabled in the body does not stop the Heart from sharing with everyone.

Pauline I have thought long and hard if I should post this or not but it comes with its own type of Therapy. Opening about my Life for all to see has been the Hardest thing I have done besides showing it thru my Poetry which comes easier.
