Alexis at Age Eleven

By Papaw 8/26/09

I know a pretty mistress whose age is now eleven.

Her parents love her so and think she came from heaven.

I hear she's like a mother to her cousin Jackson Clay.

She gives him all her love and that goes a long, long way.

What would Aunt Laura do without this helpful lass?

Because Carolyn's hands are full with your brother Nicholas.

These talents will go far in all the years to come.

Yes, child care is a gift that never comes to some. (like me)

In time, when she has children, these talents will go far.

Her parent taught her well, now she's a rising star.

We wish we could be there to share this day with you;

To watch you blow out candles and see your wish come true.

Share a piece of cake with your aunt and cousin too.

I know you'll like your presents and hope they're not a few.

I hope your daddy spanks you one time for every year.

And hug you till you squeal because you are so dear.

KURT AT FORTY-THREE

By your favorite father-in-law 3/26/09

Oh to again be forty-three,

With many good years ahead of me.

I’ve wealth beyond what you can see

And have a job with a guarantee.

All my kids say, “Yes sir dad.”

My wife’s obedient I might add.

Even my dog can make me glad

And my kids have a great granddad.

That’s why I am not going gray

Even though it’s my birthday.

For life is like a holiday,

I think that I will sleep in today.

Not every one can feel this way.

But as for me it’s everyday.

In everything I make headway.

No one ever tells me, nay.

What a dream, I just awoke.

Now I see it’s all a joke,

My wallet’s empty and I’m dead broke.

I’m not Obama, just common folk.

Jim's Birthday 2009

By your father-in-law 11/1/09

Happy birthday son-in-law Jim.

Your quiver is almost to the brim.

Two at a time like bowling pins.

You doubled your score by having twins.

Your also good with most high tech.

Like a carpenter you built your deck.

Then too you're finishing up with school.

That shows that you're nobodies fool.

When computer problems are unknown,

I simply call you on the phone.

With lots of decorating gear,

You might just win “lawn of the year.”

Which project will you tackle next?

I hear they need a new bible text.

You've done it all without a crew.

They say Clark Kent was mild mannered too.

Tad – On Your Birthday

By Dean Beaty 10/16/09

Proverbs 17:17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”

Proverbs 18:24A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there

is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” (KJV)

Although some things did not work out and ended in a fuss.

Our feelings have not changed at all, you're still a friend to us.

Although there's many miles between Tulsa and Greenville,

Whenever you can visit us our hearts will feel a thrill.

We also miss young Tyler. You both are in our prayers.

This poem for your birthday is sent to show our cares.

I miss our dining out and they've closed the Pizza Inn.

I think we kept them in the black and now it's Mexican.

I'm sure that Tyler told you that we've a puppy too.

Though sometimes I regret it for our place is like a zoo.

He goes wherever we go and at church he's in the car.

If the weather is too warm, the windows are ajar.

Back to you and birthdays, what you want I hope you got.

As for us we miss you and still love you a lot.

Keep on pushing forward though the battle may seem long.

Trust the Lord to help you. He alone can make you strong.

The Oldest Child

By Rev. Dean Beaty 10/31/09

Psalm 127:3-5 “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD:

and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand

of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that

hath his quiver full of them:” (KJV)

There is something very special about your first born child.

She's always sweet and pleasant, her temperament is mild.

She does not have to share or put her things away.

For mommy is not busy and will help at end of day.

Her father is a marshmallow, easy to wrap around.

Just like a twisted pretzel till his happy hunting ground.

She is quite the princess the ruler of the roost.

Oh mother what is next, what's this we have produced?

Whether in a diaper or a beautiful ballgown.

All hearts go pitter-patter and the boys have a melt down.

At least 'twas true with us, our life was full of song.

All was peace and harmony till the second came along.

Now she will not share. She hadn't had to up till now.

Everything belonged to her like a touchy mother sow.

Then to complicate things more, number three was on it's way.

Mom had no more spare time when it came to end of day.

But now they're all grown up and it's back to mom and me.

Our first born is a woman for Michelle turned forty-three.

She has children of her own and her time is never free.

For her mother and her dad she's now full of sympathy.
