KIMBERLY’S  41ST  BIRTHDAY

By your loving father 3/5/09

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go:

and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”  (KJV)

Kim, you lead a busy life,

The twins to feed and Jim’s sweet wife.

Hunter’s needs and a husband to please.

No longer is it a life of ease.

For now your shopping days are o’er.

You’ll be busy picking up the floor.

But you’ll reap the blessings as time goes by,

When the twins can talk instead of cry.

They’ll talk to you the whole day long,

Take time to listen, you’ll not go wrong.

Such fun you’ll have with a boy and girl.

There’ll be knees to bandage and hair to curl.

Even Princess will join the fun.

She’ll teach them how to jump and run.

But back to you, our middle child.

You’ve always been a little wild.

There’s such an important task to do.

How they turn out is up to you.

Your teaching career is your new quest.

If you do it right, you’ll be so blessed.

HUNTER WATKINS AT SIX

By Papaw Beaty 1/13/09

I know a little fellow who's going to be a brother.

That's because he has an expectant pregnant mother.

He's going to be a brother not just once but twice.

Your mom's expecting twins. Isn't that real nice?

One will be a girl and the other one a boy.

I'm sure that that will bring a household full of joy.

But don't expect attention from the little tikes.

To me they're not much fun until they can ride trikes.

I hear you're turning SIX and graduating school.

It will soon be three to two and have majority rule.

So it's pizza every night in front of the T.V.

While the girls wash the dishes and serve us fresh ice tea.

Daddy's taxes will be less with two new mouths to feed.

I think that is enough, your mom will sure agree.

So happy birthday Hunter your pudding was so good.

I recall how you would jump when on my lap you stood.

There is a special place reserved in heaven for you.

Jesus held the children to show He loved them too.

I'm looking forward to the day when we will all be there.

Then you'll run and play. For a new life you will share.

LEAH GABRIELLE AT FOURTEEN

By Papaw Beaty 8/18/09

If I could only start again,

Fourteen is where I would begin.

For it is such a magic age.

You need not work to earn a wage.

School is easy when you’re so smart

And many things are at their start.

For now you’ve found that boys are cute.

And flirting is your main pursuit.

But you are only having fun

And you’ll not settle for only one.

That is still many years away.

But just for now it’s fun to play.

At every turn you steal the scene.

Yes, it is great to be fourteen.

So stay fourteen for a full year.

Bring joy to others far and near.

All your talents will take you far.

You are raising a superstar.

Your wit and charm are quite enough.

You’re like a diamond in the rough.

OUR LYDIA AT SWEET SIXTEEN

By her adoring papaw 4/25/09

If ever a girl was seen squeaky clean;

It’s our girl Lydia who now is sixteen.

She wows everyone with her sweet violin

And turns the guy’s heads with the tilt of her chin.

She cannot help it if she makes fellows swoon.

Because she’s as cute as a Disney cartoon.

Now that she’s sixteen and driving a car.

She’ll soon be wanting a long red Jaguar.

There’s no stopping her now that she is sixteen;

Especially if Lydia has had her caffeine.

Whether it’s coffee or just soda pop

If there is a mountain she’ll be at the top.

That’s just where she’s at in her grandparent’s eyes;

Even though she’s just a miniature size.

Dynamite comes in a very small stick.

With the toss of her hair she makes guys heartsick.

If I was eighteen and not related by blood.

She’s make me content like a cow chewing cud.

Some young lucky guy will win the grand prize.

And all of the rest will have tears in their eyes.

ERIC AT TWELVE

By Papaw 7/12/09

Not many words rhyme with twelve,

So into that subject I will not delve.

So I’ll rephrase it in this way

10 + 2 is Eric’s Birthday.

He’s all boy and likes to play

But from work he won’t turn away.

It’s good his legs are young and strong

For I put them to work all day long.

We stretched out the fence to keep the pup in

It wasn’t easy, because it’s so thin.

We got the job done and it was good

It keeps Casper in just as it should.

His strong legs help him run to first base

Between him and the ball he won the race

His all-star team won the prize

The thrill of it shown in his eyes.

He likes to pester his sisters a lot.

But that’s just a part of the boy girl plot

But I can tell down deep in his heart

If there was a problem he’d take up their part.

Blood’s thicker than water and when he’s 6’ 2”

You might need his strength to carry you through.

The boys that you don’t want hanging around

When Eric gets through they will not be found.

In four years he’ll grow strong and tall

He’ll succeed in much more that just playing ball.

He’ll need your help the right girl to chose

For you know how they think and the methods they use.
