The Spirit of Giving
3/1/2009 1:30:21 AM

I came across Jill Bachman's Adland blog page and it got me to thinking about what was posted there. It's called 'The Spirit of Giving' and it really grabbed me, so I wanted to share it with you.

This forum is being dedicated to Jill and others like her here at Adland. She's a great example of being positive, encouraging & contemplative.

We are all better off because of people like Jill and I want this forum to be about such people and their thoughts, ideas & meaningful questions. We can learn for one another and we can gain insight into what is it that makes us better human beings by being around people like her.  There will be others who will be highlighted here, but for now let's show Jill how much we appreciate her.

If you don't know her, I'm sure she would love it if you would invite her to be friends, & when you visit her profile and notice she has quite a large friends list, but I'm sure she won't mind having one more friend...because that's just the kind of person she is.  Welcoming, encouraging & uplifting.  Here's the link to Jill's profile:

Future discussions here will be not only be about certain people within the Adland community who have made a positive contribution and impact, but they can be meaningful conversations about what is important to you.  Whatever questions, thoughts or ideas you want to share or ask.  If there are people that you want to highlight here, just let me know who & we will make that a special post.

This forum is not for posting your business opportunities, so please follow the guidelines.  If you do post your business opportunities here they will be deleted.

Thanks for your participation,

Cheryl :-)

The Spirit of Giving

The truth about giving is we don't need a special day,  holiday or time of year to be kind to others.

The very act of giving itself  "creates" a special, memorable day in Life.

The truest essence of  "Treasures" may well be found in the simple act of a Poet and a Princess (the most beautiful Princess in all the land) who gave a man and woman a precious moment of kindness.   Just time enough to care for one another,  time enough to feast and learn together - just time enough to change a man and a woman's  less than abundant life forever.

In so doing, Dignity and Hope were restored to the man and the woman and The Joy of Creation filled The Poet, Magister, and Princess Mayya's hearts and minds.

Knowing this we might wonder then: Who received the greater gift, the man and the woman or The Poet and The Princess?

The Spirit of Giving must never be allowed to fall to the level of a slogan on the back of a greeting card.  It must be restored to its rightful place in life, among all cultures and people that make up Mankind.

Embrace that Spirit, lift it higher and higher in the order of important things.  And one does not advance toward more expensive birthday presents or more gold and diamond things to celebrate the seasons.  We advance toward a far more worthy objective, distant and sometimes unreachable though it may seem at times.  We advance toward Peace on Earth - one man, one woman, one child, one act of kindness, one pure act of "giving" as we go.

Hi Cheryl,

What a nice idea you have to uplift
                     Jill Bachman

Jill is one of the nicest, most caring people I have meet in my lifetime.  I love her so very much.  She goes out of her way to help anyone.  Jill is so easy to get to know, and always has a laugh to share, she is a fun person to be around.  She is, "the spirit of giving "in my book. I am proud to have Jill Bachman  as my dear friend.

Cheryl thank you for doing this for Jill, I can't think of anyone who deserves it more.

Myrna

Dear Cheryl,

This is awesome what you have done here !!! Jill is a special friend to me and to so many here. She does her very best to make this community a better place and I'm sure in the world around her where she is. Bless YOU Jill !!

About the 'SPIRIT OF GIVING' the essence of it  really is LOVE...not as this world knows it....Love for one's self then giving to others becomes easy and a given thing......here is a poem I wrote in 2007 that sums it up...and describes Jill perfectly I think :-)

To all my friends here at Adland who live to make a difference.....I am blessed by YOU !!

Thank you Cheryl you are a special friend too to me:-) ....and Myrna for passing the link appreciat you much lady !!

Hugz n blessings always.

Pauline

THE SPIRIT OF LOVE

MY SPIRIT SOARS,

AS FREE AS A BIRD,

COME DARK CLOUDS OR SUNSHINE

 MY VOICE MUST BE HEARD,

NO SHACKLES THAT BIND ME

FOR I WAS MADE FREE

TO TRAVERSE EVERY DOMAIN

AND IN MY SPIRIT TO FEEL

YES TO FEEL THE WIND

THAT IS UNDER MY WINGS

IT TAKES ME A DIRECTION

SO I COULD SEE THINGS

THE VIEW FROM ABOVE

WHEN LOOKING BELOW

IS SURELY SO DIFFERENT

THAT IT MAKES ME KNOW

THAT NOT ALL SEEMS TO BE

THE WAY THAT IT IS

ITS WHERE YOU LOOK FROM

THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

RISING ABOVE

 ALL CIRCUMSTANCES

REFUSING TO HATE

BUT LOVE EVERY INSTANT

KEEPS YOU FREE

YES FREE AS A BIRD

DID YOU GET THE MESSAGE

HAS MY VOICE BEEN HEARD?

Cheryl,  Thank you for the personal invite and yes, I am glad to participate, as you yourself have become a recent inspiration to me with all your words of wisdom, that have seemed to come from what I think is essential for this "spirit of giving" Jill speaks of, which is an open heart. Yes, I appreciate what Jill shared here:

The Spirit of Giving must never be allowed to fall to the level of a slogan on the back of a greeting card.  It must be restored to its rightful place in life, among all cultures and people that make up Mankind.

Isn't it true that our faces and other's can often smile much bigger than what our heart is feeling, and it's almost embarrasing to be on the receiving end of "giving" when there is a sense that the genuine spirit of giving is missing.  And many may feel insulted rather than entreated when giving seems to come only with the intention of some return for itself.  Do we have time and room though in our busy lives and in our self focused pursuits, or are we willing to sacrifice a moment to open up our heart and share some real heart that may gain us no tangible return, just for the sake of giving something to someone else?  Can we only be motivated by a self return in all we do?  If so, we will probably never really gain the life we are trying to gain and may never really be able to receive what we cannot give. In order to give "with" the spirit which is giving, we must give from our heart, and in order to, our heart must be open or must open up if it is not, Amen?

Yes, I am glad and blessed by all who care to have an open heart and give something from it.      Kim
