Sauerkraut Casserole
2/23/2009 12:09:52 AM

This is an interesting sounding casserole. I have not tried it, but it sounds healthy. For those sauerkraut lovers, this may be a different way to eat your kraut.

Sauerkraut Casserole

1 can sauerkraut

1/2 cup uncooked rice

1 medium onion, chopped

1 pound ground beef, browned

1-8 oz. can tomato sauce

1/2 can water

Instructions:

Spread each ingredient in casserole in order given. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes uncovered.

I will have to try that.  We love sauerkraut.  Rudy makes a great supper with it.  Start in the morning.
Put half can so kraut in bottom of slow cooker.
Add about six peeled potatoes
Smoked Pork Hock or Cottage Roll in center.
More kraut on top
Cook slowly all day

Hi Donna,

This one is different.  I am always eaten sauerkraut with pork or hotdogs. I would be willing to try it.

Donna, it sounds interesting.  I really don't care much for sauerkraut but Wilson likes it.  He buys Kobaski (sausage) which I slice, brown a little, add onion, garlic, potatoes, then the kraut with a little sugar.  Cook until potatoes are done.

Thanks for sharing,

Sara
