Let This Be A Lesson To Me
2/21/2009 2:00:31 PM

Hello dear friends,

Well... I have learned a great lesson over the last three weeks.  I have learned that there may be a reason why someone does not respond to me in a timely manner or why they may not respond at all... and it is not personal... and I have learned to slow down.

I have learned that there is always a reason for everything even when I do not understand it.

In this time of constant internet connection for many of us, I had become accustomed to instant connections with anyone anywhere in the world.

For the last three weeks since we moved into our new log home I have been challenged by not having a phone connection or an internet connection.

H m m m m m

I am sure there are many who are wondering why I have not replied to them or why I am ignoring their emails or phone messages.  Many will probably stomp off assuming I have chosen not to reply.

That is not the case at all.

While I have a laptop with a built in internet connection and a cell phone, neither of them work at our house here on the mountain.  So in order to communicate with anyone I have to get in my car and drive down the road at the top of the mountain where I can connect.

We ordered land line phone service and DSL internet connection more than 6 weeks ago.  We got the land line phone last Friday.  Yay we have phones!

We received the DSL equipment yesterday and we were so excited that we were finally going to connect to the world again.

H m m m m m

The internet connection did not work and when we called the phone company we were told our order had been dropped and we would need to place our order again.

N o o o o o

Absolutely not.  So I asked to speak to supervisors and managers until someone in the "Escalations" department finally came on the line and said they would give us an update within 24 to 48 hours.

OK, still no connection.

So, here I sit writing to you, asking myself what am I supposed to be learning from this experience.

Here is what I have learned:

S-L-O-W  D-O-W-N

Actually not having a connection to the outside world has given me an opportunity to get most of our boxes unpacked and do some decorating, getting some pictures hung on the wall that I might not have gotten to for months.

God and the Universe always know what is best for me... and while I have been completely frustrated, I also know that "everything is always in perfect and Divine order."

So, the next time you don't hear from someone or they don't return your phone call or reply to your email, acknowledge that there may be a reason beyond their control.

And the next time things don't go your way, say THANK YOU.  You don't even need to know why, just say THANK YOU and know that God and the Universe are always looking out for you... always.

So, now while I wait for my DSL connection, I am going to go and sit in my new front porch swing that Dennis had time to install because we don't have a connection to the world... and I'm going to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

Let this be a lesson to ME... and to you if you choose to accept it.

Many blessings. for your prosperity and well being.

In peace and joy,

Linda Miller

My lovely friend Linda,

Who would have guessed that having made a connection it would be with a silly old man in England.

I know what it's like to be without communications. For a while it is horrible, then you find that other things get done and then you find that you had more time to speak to each other.

Good friends always wait and we've been happy to do so.

Remember, communications businesses are the WORST COMMUNICATORS because they take it for granted.

I know that there will be a good reason for you to suffer this void and that you will emerge better for it.

Please enjoy your new home.

Love to you and your family and it'sd great to see you're almost back.

Roger

Dear Linda,
Greetings!
Oh dear lady, I am sorry to hear about your connection.  I am glad you are still able to come in and post.

However, I also do want to say that I have experienced this before and it can be frustrating.  But as life is too short, I tend to brush it off so that it does not impact me.  I make jokes out of it and try and do something else.
Once I get it off my mind, I don't have to get angry, etc and that certainly helps the emotional and physical well being of a person.

So, another lesson learnt - make sure to stand there and allow them to do the line in that day itself.... Hahahahah ;)

Have a blessed week!

Love, Rinna

Linda,

Even though we haven't met and I am new on here, I had to respond!
It is so true that from time to time things are thrown at us that teach us a lesson about ourselves and others. Glad you are getting some positive things from the whole experience anyway.

On the bright side, I am sure you have had plenty of time to read and unpack boxes!!!
