THEY HAVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER AND ARE STEALING FROM YOU !

That was the message I got on February 1st 2009 in a letter from my bank. At first I thought is was some marketing tool that they were using to get my attention to sell me to credit protection. As I read more of the letter it stated that thousands of bank customers had had their information stolen and I could be in jeopardy of having money charged to my account and to please contact them at once. Yesterday, I checked my account on line and low and behold, I found several purchases that I did not make. The total was about $20.00. When I looked again, I noticed that these two different companies had the very same phone number. ( 1-800-712-7222 ). So, I called the bank only to be told that this same company had hit my account again last evening for another $20.00. Again, different company, same phone numbers; one was listed as Gov.Grant/Funded and the other was IndentityS. The young lady I spoke with also directed my attention to the fifty cent fee also listed. " That's the fee charged from their having called from out of the country. Who ever is doing this is not in the United States and is over seas.

I have to say that I am a bit amazed that this has happened. I am so very cautious on line, always check for that https:// in the address bar before I do any business on line; it's sad that I have to be told that it's not really my error, it's that my bank account has been hacked. 

After I post this message to you, I will be going to my bank to get another account set up. When I return, I will have to go back to those on line businesses that I deal with ( and trust ) and set up those accounts again with my new information.

By the way, I called my telephone company and asked about that fee of fifty cents, and was told that more than likely, the person or persons doing this are located in Canada, India, or the UK. Also, the security center at the bank asked me how many business and social sites I engage in and that I pay for. Seems that this too is where these hackers can get in and get your data without even being noticed.

Off to the bank now... be safe... and stay alert... there are weeds in God's garden and I'm about to use my weed killer ;)

Hi Folks :

While our friend Tom wants you to buy into garlic for heart health, ( which I have been using for over ten years now ) and business out side the US, ( here's a US Company ) let me give you the skinny on this credit card issue; it will positively PYO.

I just arrived back at my office from visiting the bank and was told the following:

1) All charges will be put back into my account.

2) I will be issued another card in five business days.

3) Seven major banks have been hacked,  to include Bank of America.

4) Over 15,000 accounts have been compromised at one bank alone and that will be charged $10.00 each by Visa, Master Card and or Discover Card for having to issue new cards through the bank. 

5) The Bank is not actually the culprit here, it is the company processing the accounts. Here's the kicker, this particular company deals in processing credit card purchases when you buy gas at your neighborhood gas station. That company is HEARTLAND PROCESSING. The data breach involving this  company was reported back in 2008. Still, the security problems they had then are still not completely resolved.

It was suggested that anyone having a bank card or credit card that you used to purchase gas go to your bank, have the card made void and demand that a new card be issued.

I hope you take this suggestion as positive advice and as I stated before, better safe than sorry.
