I have had the same thing in the past and say I don't use CC unless it's an emergency. Had one tell me their call WAS an emergency and I needed to use my CC NOW!

I said to them before I do that I need to know the name, number and address of the company I am giving my CC to. They spilled their beans and I said thank you, now it's time to report them to the FTC because my number is registered on the Do NOT Call List. The guy called me every name in the book. My reply .... I guess I just scammed a scammer. LOL.

I guess you did just scam and scammer. Good one.
We are also on the 'do not call list' and thankfully we have not been
called since I did this several months ago.  Just have to remember to
do it again each year.

I have sometimes been real mean, just depends on when they have
called and how much time I have to listen to their spiel...let them go
on and on...Then when they think they have me hooked.  I have then
told them we do not have credit cards (which is true) or checking
account (which is false).  We only use Bank checks written out by
them (sometimes we use this service)

I stick to my guns and they give up in the end after I have wasted
their time from 15 minutes up to an hour!

I love talking to telemarketers here is one I use and when I am done I tell them to take me off their list.    I let them give me their pitch and when they are finished. I tell them let me think about it. I  ask  them to give me their  phone number and I will call them at home and we can discuss it. They usually say something like, I don't give out my home number or that is my house. So I ask them ,  why do you call my house and bug me while we are having dinner or why are you distrubing my day ? I have had some pretty funny reactions and some that got really out of sorts. :)
