The economy fell to its lowest since the Depression, that was the last time the mortgages were in connection with whatever, it was Democrat Bill Clinton who reconnected what never should have been joined again.  There are no Republicans responsible for the economic collapse.  This could have happened at any time, but it was drummed up in September because John McCain was leading, this could have collapsed in 6 months, next year, whenever, but it was pushed upon us to give Obama a lead int he last month before the election. Great plan, Democrats!  Now your new president gets to handle the situation created by his own party, and exacerbated by his own party.  GOOD LUCK!!
