Dear Georgios,

Thank you for doing this feature and dedicating it to me.

Alexander the Great was my childhood hero !! Thank you for refreshing my mind, awesome truth of how close Greeks were to Indians, as conquerers and as settlers. I remember when my dear Dad spent one month in Athens,Greece during his Indian Airforce days, he brought back for me marble statues of Atlas, and the Greek philosophers Socrates & Plato, I was only 8 years old then, and he sat me down and  told me many great things about these 3 awesome souls.

Thank you again for doing this, I appreciate it more than you will know.

Be blessed my friend always!

Pauline

Hi Georgios, Belated Happy New Year and Orthodox Christmas. Thank you for the information about the Indo-Greek kingdom from earlier times! Funny, I watched Oliver Stone's "Alexander" (2004) over the holidays and it peeked my curiosity about Alexander's exploits in India. Here in North America, we often fail to heed the lessons of history, and certainly the Greek influence in India is quite neglected. While war and conquest gets a lot of attention, we ignore the benefits of cultural interaction. Alexander and his successors influenced India for several hundred years, right through to Emperor Ashoka's rule. Even today, I am sure that some in the subcontinent can claim lineage to Hellenic ancestors. Keep up the good work, and many thanks! Rahul aka Info-entrepreneur RM
