Hello Silvy :-)

great to read about all this! Are you also hiding coins into that Honey Cake?
My best friend from the University is a Serb one and I often celebrated Christmas with them in Timisoara! Her mother used to make some kind of Honey Cake and she always hidden coins in some of the slices! The one who find them were considered to be lucky the year coming!

Dear Anamaria,

Thanks for the visit.

Croats are Roman Catholics and Serbs are Orthodox Christians; different churches brought a different customs. My husband is Serb (born and lives at Croatia), but his family didn`t cherish their national and religious customs. I have heard for that custom ... but my family and families of my friends do not put any coins at the Christmas bread.

Among Catholic Croats there are a many different customs, what depends on different regions. Including your wonderful country, I think our region is so very rich with the customs and cultural inheritance.

Anamaria - if you ever come to Zagreb, I hope you will honor me by visit and I`d be very happy to be your hostess.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND FAMILY, AND ALL ROMANIAN PEOPLE !

Silvy
