THE  UNCERTAIN  NEW  YEAR

Joshua 3:4 (KJV)

As Joshua led the Jews to Jordan’s muddy shore,

He challenged them with this, “You’ve not passed this way before.”

God had brought them to the land He had promised long ago.

This land was new to them, so which way should they go?

 

The year that lies before us is very much the same.

The future is uncertain so we call on Jesus’ name.

He has given us His Spirit to go along beside.

So trust the Holy Spirit to be your faithful guide.

 

He guides us in God’s Word which we need from day to day. John 16:13

He is our Intercessor when we know not how to pray. Romans 8:26

The Spirit brings conviction upon a sinful heart. John 16:8

This Comforter Christ gave, from us will not depart. John 14:16

 

So depend upon God’s Word as a light upon your way. Psalm 119:105

Be strong in God’s great might and don’t become the Devil’s prey. I Peter 5:8

As children of the King, fight against the Devil’s hoards.

Recall what David said, “The battle is the Lord’s.” I Samuel 17:47

DON’T WAIT FOR THE NEW YEAR

Do not wait for New Year’s night.
Resolve right now to do what’s right.
Your heart agrees that sin is wrong,
And yet you’ve put it off so long.

Though you have tried and failed before.
Before the Lord resolve once more.
Trust in the Lord, who lives within,
To give you vict’ry over sin.

In God’s word you’ll find the key.
“Resist the devil and he will flee.” (James 4:7)
Then read God’s Word to start each day,
To keep the devil far at bay.

If in Christ you’ve been made whole,
Satan cannot destroy your soul.
Though he may try, God’s guarantee;
Satan can’t win the victory.

If all your sins you will confess,
He’ll cleanse you of unrighteousness. (I John 1:9)
This frees your heart of guilt and shame,
And brings praise to the Savior’s name.
