The Contrasts of Christ’s Coming By Rev Dean Beaty 11/21/08
Was ever a contrast greater than that of heaven and earth? Christ left the throne of heaven for a humble obscure birth. His realm of splendorous wonder in His Father’s home of light, To a stable manger in winter’s dead of night.
From wealth beyond all measure to humble poverty. From worship by the angels to cruel indignity. His place beside the Father as God’s beloved Son, To die upon a rugged cross beneath the mid-day sun.
His place was one of love beside the Father’s throne. On earth our Lord was hated by those He called His own. Eternal with the Father from all eternity. Now to die for mankind’s sin upon a cruel tree.
Sin had never entered His home within the sky. On earth man’s sins were rampant. That’s why He came to die. In heaven peace was total, no battles there to win. On earth there’s constant warfare from hatred, greed, and sin.
Was there ever such a contrast, a gulf so deep and wide? For Christ to leave His home and here be crucified? Christ crossed that mighty chasm and left His honored place, To come to earth to die while rejected in disgrace.
Now there’s another contrast before this life is done. Christ’s home in heaven to gain or a fiery hell to shun. The choice is up to you, between Christ’s and Satan’s place. To join the Devil’s crowd or look on Jesus face.
