THE  GIFT  vs.  THE  GIVER

We’re recipients of blessings,

          And the number is untold.

The amount is so gigantic,

           That our heart can soon grow cold.

We take so much for granted,

           Until they’re gone from view.

And then we pray in earnest,

          That God will make them new.

But which is more important,

          The things that He has given,

Or the giver of the gifts,

          Our Father up in heaven?

Our eyes are often focused ,

          On the tinsel and the light.

We forget to see the tree,

          That’s holding it upright.

The things are unimportant.

          Focus should be on God.

It’s not the gift we praise,

          But the Father that we laud.

Of all the gifts God’s given,

          There’s one that’s number one.

And that’s God’s gift of love,

          Through Jesus Christ His Son.
