"Update at Hopi"

Dear Friends,
Here is a letter that my friend wrote in regard to what is happening in Hopi right now.
asquali,
Kymberlee
_________________________________________________________

History is now in the making in regard to the Hopi people. A people who after close to a thousand years in one location in the Arizona desert in the United States still follow the ancient ways and teachings of their ancestors and their Creator Massau. They follow a Religion, Belief, Spiritual Path that is in balance with nature, with the world, with the animals, with all life in all the worlds in fact.
To be Hopi one must be dedicated to hard work, commitment and of good heart.

What does it mean to be Hopi? It is my view that only a TRUE Hopi can answer that question. When you hear them speak it becomes clear quickly that they have a “knowing” within them. They have a peace within that shows through as they carry themselves and I for one have great respect for the level of commitment it takes in this modern world to continue their Ceremonies and Hopi Way of Life.

This is a difficult path to follow for anyone. Maybe in your life you may find it difficult to find time to go for lunch with a friend, make a call, clean your office or things of this nature. Imagine the life of Traditional Hopi. They must commit to weeks of time, monthly, day and night working on the preparations and performing of their complex Ceremonies.

Many of the people in Hopi that do not “take part” in the Kiva’s still participate by contributing in a long list of ways that require time and commitment as well. It would not be respectful to talk about this in detail as it is a Sacred Process and one that is held in such high honor that it is dishonorable and disrespectful to talk about these things in such a casual way. In fact I do not have any part of the Ceremony process in this way, just to be clear to everyone. If someone did want me to participate in their ancient ways the only time this would be acceptable was if the Kikmongwit, Village Chiefs, gave the approval and I assure you that will not happen with me or anyone else that I am aware of.

It is my belief that the Hopi People that are committed to their Traditions are powerful. They hold a key, one of many around the world to our changing times, to our very existence, to our future. This belief within me is strong and it is clear and nothing can pull me from this belief.

Today, my thoughts are with the Traditional People and the people as a whole here on the lands of the Hopi.

I think about what is happening here with a proposed Constitution that has been brought before the people for a vote through breaking the Current Hopi Constitutional Laws.

Going to the edge of the mesas I look out across the desert and ask myself……… will this be the last year that we see the beauty of the untouched lands here? Is this the year that the mining companies come to begin laying the groundwork for strip mining? Is this the last time the eagles will fly above and we see clear skies? Is this the year that the huge corporations that hire people for nothing and make billions come and build their massive stores?

IS THIS THE YEAR THAT ONE OF THE LAST ANCIENT INTACT CULTURES OF OUR WORLD IS DESTROYED BY GREED, LIES, DECEIT AND PURSUIT FOR POWER?

The Highest level of Traditional People must unite into one heart as I know they can, they do and already are within. Now is the time for them to join together from the Kiva’s the Villages, the People. Set aside differences, set aside the past arguments and agree that they must protect what they all have promised to protect…..their Hopi Way of Life and Ceremonies and by doing so all LIfe.

I am a woman, I am white….. and yet I see so clearly the Hearts of so many of the People here in Hopi. I hear the pain in their voices that THEY will be accountable for loosing their Hopi Way of Life. They will be the ones that after thousands of years of carrying on the Ancient and Sacred Way of Life and Ceremonies they may be lost in THIS lifetime. I know who the Hopi are….. they are an important part of this world and allowing them to be destroyed we destroy ourselves.

Now is not the time to say… oh well… its happening everywhere….. no …its not……. It is happening right here in the United States of America. The land where the world views as having respect and freedom for their people. Where the RIGHTS of the people are upheld. Within the United States of America the Secretary fo Interior is allowing a dictator to overthrow an Ancient, Religious and deeply Spiritual group of people who have been here on Earth longer than any government in the world.

If the Hopi unite then the world will unite with them. The people of the world can support them. The people of the world can help STOP this from happening with international media and pressure we can stop this from happening and in turn help ourselves.

I beg of you all … the Hopi people to begin speaking to one another with open hearts. Connect with your your Kikmongwits, your Leaders, your Kivas, families, your clans, your spokesman, your removed Village reps, your own people and become INFORMED. YOUR way of life is at risk and because of no advertizing, not tv, no internet your own people are even unaware that this proposed constitution is upon them.

YOU are being asked to decide the fate of your people, your land, your way of life and the life of this world.

I will keep posting information here as it becomes available. Please, if there are any people from the Villages that are Traditionals now is the time…. speak and speak from your hearts….. the people …… your people and the people of the world need to hear you now. Email me if you choose to: miriam@thegreatgathering.org

For people around the world……. PLEASE I ask, beg, show you my heart and my own pain …. and ask you to please …. act on this………

CALLING ALL PEOPLE FROM HOPI TO WRITE YOUR LETTERS TO SECRETARY SALAZAR ASKING HIM TO STOP THIS VOTE.

CALLING ALL PEOPLE FROM AROUND THE WORLD TO WRITE YOUR LETTERS TO SALAZAR ASKING FOR THE RIGHTS OF THE HOPI PEOPLE TO BE UPHELD.

Please email the Secretary of Interior and ask him to HALT the proposed Constitution and uphold the RIGHTS of the Hopi people. All it may take to save the Hopi and possibly save ourselves from destruction is ONE email …..

Merry Christmas Myrna!

Prayers for Christmas

A reflective Christmas prayer :

Father God, When your precious Son became a tiny baby in a stable in Bethlehem in poverty and simplicity, you changed our world. As we imagine those surroundings, we join with the shepherds and the wise men in wonder and praise. We thank you for our material lives, praise you for our spiritual lives, and trust in you for our eternal life. Amen.

Some Christmas readings from the Bible:

St Luke 2 : 1-20, - St Luke tells the traditional nativity story.
John 1 : 1-18, - the Prologue to St.John's Gospel reveals how Jesus was destined to be born from the very beginning of time.
1 John 4:7-14 - reminds us of God's love for us in giving His son to be born as a human baby.
Isaiah 9:2,6,7 - the prophet Isaiah foretells the coming of the Prince of Peace.

Bible Passages from the NIV

Myrna,

I'm staggered at the number of wonderful videos and pictures available to post in your forum.

Wonderful stuff and gives such an earthy and spiritual feel to your forum.

Congratulations on a great forum and for the interest that is ongoing.
