Greetings Members, hope your enjoying your weekend? please say a prayer for the flood victims and there familys, not a good year for them, thank you. This weeks Showcase features a business with a faith that wont quit or back down, always has a nice encouraging word or two to say to everyone, a family man, and a friend to all of us, Phil Black. He hails from Thomasville, North Carolina.Thomasville is a city in Davidson and Randolph counties in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population was 19,788 at the 2000 census. The city is notable for its furniture industry as are its neighbors of High Point and Lexington. This Piedmont Triad community was established in 1852 and hosts the state's oldest festival, "Everybody's Day". Built around the local railway system, Thomasville is home to the oldest railroad depot in the state, just a few hundred feet from the city's most notable landmark, "The Big Chair"

Thomasville is commonly referred to as the "Chair Town" or "Chair City" or "The Big Chair", in reference to a 30 foot landmark replica of a Duncan Phyfe armchair that rests in the middle of the city. The original "Big Chair" was constructed in 1922 by the Thomasville Chair Company (now Thomasville Furniture Industries) out of lumber and Swiss steer hide to reflect the city's prominent furniture industry. However, this chair was scrapped in 1936 after 15 years of exposure to the weather. In 1951, a larger concrete version of the chair was erected with the collaboration of local businesses and civic organizations and still remains today. The Big Chair gained national attention in 1960 when then Presidential Candidate Lyndon B. Johnson greeted supporters on the monument during a campaign whistle stop. It has even been featured on Ripley's Believe It or Not!. Although larger ones have been built, many Thomasville residents still boast that the Big Chair between the two Main Streets is the World's Largest Chair.

As of the cences of 2000, there were 19,788 people, 7,978 households, and 5,305 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,775.2 people per square mile (685.2/km²). There were 8,515 housing units at an average density of 763.9/sq mi (294.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 69.63% White, 23.91% African American, 0.45% Native American, 0.83% Asian, 3.83% from other races, and 1.35% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.93% of the population.

There were 7,978 households out of which 31.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% were married couples living together, 17.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.5% were non-families. 28.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.96.

In the city the population was spread out with 25.5% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 31.2% from 25 to 44, 20.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 90.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.6 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $30,972, and the median income for a family was $35,933. Males had a median income of $27,479 versus $20,968 for females. The per capita income for the city was $16,045. About 11.8% of families and 16.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 23.5% of those under age 18 and 16.4% of those age 65 or over.

Thomasville's population has grown much faster than the rest of North Carolina and the United States. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that as of 2005 Thomasville's population reached 25,872, an annual average growth of over 6% from 2000. North Carolina grew at an average rate of 1.6%, and the United States grew at an average rate of 1%Thomasville has been historically associated with furniture and cabinetry manufacture, as well as for a wholesale and retail furniture market. "Thomasville" is used as a trade designation for artisan furniture.

The Thomasville Bulldogs are well known throughout the state for excelling in athletics, especially football.

The 1995 Bulldogs were the first team in the history of NC football to go 16-0.

In 2005, The Bulldogs were the first school in the history of NC athletics to win championships in Football, Women’s Basketball, Men’s Basketball, and Men’s Soccer.

Thomasville is also home to the Thomasville HiToms of the Coastal Plain League, a summer collegiate league sanctioned by the NCAA. The HiToms won the 2006 and 2007 Petitt Cup, the Coastal Plain League Championship. The HiToms play at Historic Finch Field, which was built in 1935. From 1937-1969, Finch Field was the home to many minor league teams. Hall of Famers such as Eddie Mathews and Curt Flood once played for the HiToms. Short but sweet town, this is for you PHIL cuz WE LOVE YOU PHIL BLACK   :)

Hello My Friends,

Although I now reside in Thomasville, NC, I was born up the road a little ways, in High Point, NC, "The Furniture Capitol of the World". on March 22, 1947, to two of the most Loving, Caring, Christian parents any Son could ever have.  Both of my Parents are now at Home with the Father, however I pray each day, in whatever I do, that I can make them proud.  From my Mother, I learned to care for others, to help whenever possible, to love and treat others as I wished to be treated, and finally, win or lose, to always do my best.  From my Dad, I learned to provide for those you love and to be a man, to take responsibility for your actions and to try to make any  personal wrongs right.  Also from Dad, I learned most of what I know about being a Salesman.  Many may have heard this before, however, at a very young age, my Dad said to me, "If you have something in your pocket to sell, and you're not afraid to talk to other people, then you will never go hungry.  Folks, if you look at my picture, you'll see that I've never gone hungry.

My first job after graduating from High Point University with a Major in Management & Accounting, was in Credit Management for a small Textile Machine Company.  It took less than a year for me to realize that I was not meant to sit in an office and crunch numbers.  Therefore, in early 1971, I went to work for the Prudential Insurance Company, and have never really looked back since.  After all, this job not only gave me the freedom to meet great people everyday, to be out amongst the public and helping others, it also increased my pay within 3 months from $150/50-hour week, to $500-$600/week, slaving away at the Golf Courses, Coffee Shops, Restaurants and in many of the nicest homes in the area.  Of course, there have been other positions since the early 70's, most involving either Insurance or other types of Sales.  From '74-'84, I worked as a Placement Specialist for the NC Employment Security Commission, until President Reagan had brought the Economy back to the point where so few people were unemployed that we were no longer needed by the ESC and I was Laid-Off by the Unemployment Office.  Since Dad & I had started an Independent Insurance Agency following his retirement in 1981, I returned full time to Insurance and operated that Agency until 1994, following my Dad's passing.  Being somewhat burned out on Insurance sales, I joined with a friend and formed a business to market Portrait packages. Until late 2000, we traveled over 5 states, working primarily through the "Big-Box Store", selling Glamour and Family portrait packages, and raising money through the stores which went to The Children's Miracle Network.  After spending Christmas Eve, 2000, in Wallace, NC, and New Year's Eve, 2000, in Forsyth, GA, I left the road for good and went back into Insurance in January 2001.

As many of you know, my main source of income is primarily from my Insurance Agency, as well as from my Bookkeeping & Tax Service, which of course takes about 75% of my time from January-April each year.  I've been involved in preparing taxes & performing bookkeeping services for over 25 years.

I first became involved in Network Marketing in the early 70's with a Company called Amway.  This was a very successful venture, since both the Company & the Concept were fresh & new at that time.  There have, of course, been many other Network Marketing ventures over the years, the two most successful being Shaklee and Life Plus.

Although I feel like I've been in Network Marketing all of my life, I have only been pursuing Online Marketing for about four years and Celebrated my 3rd anniversary here at AdlandPro on May 2, 2008.  Although, at first, I tried out most of what came my way, the main one showing real potential, right now, is an excellent company called ItsYourNet.  The potential seems, to me at least, to be unlimited, especially once the Company's WiFi is fully out.  I hope you'll stop by for a visit, and be sure to take the Free 3-D Tour.  I am also excited about another Great Company, GDI which offers a Registered Domain Name, a 10-Page Website so simple that if you can Cut & Paste, you can establish your presence on the Web before you know it, and one of the best deals for a future of Residual Income that I've found so far, for an investment of only Pennies per day.  Finally, for one that I am excited about because of the Service it provides, there's Leisure Audio Books.  As  Marketing People, our biggest asset is our time.  If we manage our time productively, we are half way to success.  Likewise, if we ever stop learning new ideas and methods, we will stagnate and eventually wither away.  Now there is a way to accomplish both, and at the same time save money on personal  purchases, as well as earn from 10% to 30% on the purchases of those to whom you introduce the opportunity.

I appreciate that you have taken your time to learn a little more about me, and I would like to learn more from you as well.  Please, if I am not on your Friends list yet, Invite me.  In the future, I hope that we can stay in touch more often.  In the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact me anytime, whether just to talk or to share a idea or an opportunity, or if there is anything with which I can help.  Thanks to the Buddy List, just click on my Picture and you will reach me.  If I'm Online, I'll be there.

Bless You My Friends,

Phil Black

Thank you Thomas for featuring Phil so that we may learn more about him.

Congratulations Phil, what an impressive bio. You've certainly been a busy bee. After seeing you here at Adland for so long it just never dawned on me that you really just live over the hill from me if you want to call the Great Smoky Mountains a "hill".

It's easy to tell you're the product of your parents and I know how you must miss them. May you always be blessed.

Evelyn
