Re: ARE YOU A RACIST?

Interesting,

Race is the operative word, so depending on what race you belong to, I suppose anyone can be called a racist if you simply disagree with another of a different race.  In my opinion, it is a much overused term which simply incites further racism.  It seems the main ones out there spouting racism these days are the politicians. After all, when did we ever see a black candidate for president before?  Racism is obviously still with us, and always will be, but with the current presidential elections upcoming, racist topics were bound to appear.

Hello my dear Kathy, In my never to be humble opinion-racism; like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We live in a society that puts racial qualifiers on everything reported. Who really cares that whites will not be the majority race by 2042? Really? When I am sitting shivering under that tiny little paper gown getting my medical workup-I only want to hear the news that all my parts are functioning properly and that I can get dressed and get out of there. I don't take a head count of how many black, white, latin or asian care givers I have seen that day. Happily its usually a good mix. I hate labels for people; mind you I don't mind being called a beautiful, gorgeous, tall drink of water-oh, wait, I'm not tall! Ok, other than that-I find that people who have to take the time to identify someone by race likely is short on vocabulary. In the garden of God's flowers-who is to say which are weeds?

Hello Friends, Well some one sent me this, and asked me to post it for them. They would rather not do it them selves. I fail to understand the backlash against affirmative action. I understand how caucasians can feel that it "penalizes" them for who they are by stating that employers' workforces should be diverse as well as universities students, HOWEVER, it is undeniable that before AA diversity was not commonplace within businesses or at certain universities. I do not believe in quotas but i do feel that overall AA is a good thing because i have encountered many people in my lifetime who are "minorities" who had work ethic, ambition, intellect and a positive attitude but were denied OPPORTUNITY solely because of their RACE or due to LACK OF EDUCATION. AA is supposed to "create" opportunity by "encouraging" businesses to employ a more culturally diverse workforce and "encouraging" institutions of higher learning to enroll a more diverse group of students. The truth about racism is this, RACISM is a tool perpetuated by the upper echelon of our society, in a captialist society those that have wealth and power will use their resources to preserve their ability to accquire more wealth and power. The 5% of Americans with the most wealth need people to clean their houses, cook their meals, chaffeur their vehicles, mow their lawns, etc., so if everyone had equal access to education and a profession that paid enough for a high quality of life, who in their right mind would choose to work in these fields other than the people who felt that regardless of the pay, that these jobs were their passion??? Not many that I can think of, so these are the same people that gripe about AA. It's funny that if you were to complete a survey, a greater percentage of caucasians (whom laws historically favored by the way) own their homes than other groups and it is a PROVEN FACT that home ownership is one of the keys to wealth building. Obviously, when we die we can't take it with us and Lord knows Little Tommy will never be desperate enough to sell drugs, rob a bank, or prostitue women if his Grandpa let him his life's earnings so Little Tommy grows up financially "comfortable" and goes to school and gets his degree, Grandad left him his house so he will never have a mortgage payment, maybe property taxes, insurance, etc. Tommy works hard his whole life and builds his business and leaves it to his son and so on and so forth with an inherited/earned wealth domino effect down the generations and what was the source of all this wealth being passed down the line??? Laws/attitudes/hiring practices that favored only "white" people. Please don't misunderstand, I am not stating that if you are white, that life is handed to you on a silver platter, because that is not always true, but when it does happen, we can all give a round of applause for Jim Crow laws/lynching/ownership of slaves because the fact is that if you are Caucasian and even if you did not benefit financially from these atrocities, you benefit by at least being alive, because many "black" people are not here. The justice system is racist also, because of the lack of opportunity in some communites, minorities turn to crime more often than Caucasians ( I am not saying that that is ok, but it is a FACT) and when they are tried and sentenced in a court of law the penalties are often harsher than their white counterparts. This example is about 2 different crimes, but if ANYONE can logically, truthfully, whole-heartedly argue this point down, I will be surprised. A group of black men in my community burglarized houses in an affluent homosexual neighborhood, I think they robbed about 50 different houses. When these gentlemen were sentenced they received 113 years in prison (I am not lying). A white man in this area who was high on crack and already had 2 strikes killed another man and was sentenced to 3 years in prison for "voluntary" manslaughter. If those rulings are not RACIST, I do not know what is, how in the hell can you send the message that stealing someone's belonging carries a harsher penalty than taking someone's life????

Hello Friends, Racism has to do with "Inferiority/ Superiority In order to define racism we must first define the term "Racialism". Racialism is basically the idea that individuals from different racial backgrounds have distinct and inherent traits. now "racism", ads to this definition that certain races are in fact superior to others(a hierarchy is established).
