Remote check-in

Many travelers have mastered the art of checking in by home computer. American Airlines has just adapted its system to permit check-in by hand-held device, such as a personal digital assistant or a Web-enabled cell phone. Southwest Airlines has offered similar services since 2006.

To try remote check-in, users must have an electronic reservation. You can't use it with fares that must be checked for eligibility at the desk, such as senior fares.
And you must check in less than 24 hours before flight time.
Check-in then is a matter of pushing the right buttons on your hand-held device and visiting a kiosk at the airport to print a boarding pass.

Who may benefit by remote check-in service? It is especially designed for business people
who are on tight schedules.
