A while back I posted in this forum a story called "Everybody Needs Someone Who Understands". It is about a little boy who chooses a puppy that is the runt of the litter. Animals (especially dogs and cats) have the ability to understand us humans more than we give them credit.
This week my wife and I had to say good by to the dog in our lives who truly understood more than we were willing to admit.
I got Bobby when he was just five weeks old. Over the almost 14 1/2 years he was in our lives he taught us what true unconditional love is all about. He taught us that a game of ball followed by sitting on the front porch watching the world go by is the cure all for stress. A good scratch behind the ears worked just as well. He taught us that it is good to be close to the ones you love during a storm. And above all he taught us that being there for the ones you love for when they are sick or hurting is more important than words.
I thank the Lord for the gift of these precious pets that He brings into our lives. This particular one is truly missed.
