In Honor of Our Mothers
GOD’S FIRST GIFT By Rev. Dean Beaty 5/2/08
Our God showed just how wise He was. When after Adam, He took a pause. He knew His work was not complete, Until He made man’s first help meet.
Adam was surely stunned and awed, As he received this gift from God. Not just for Adam was this one. She’d be the mother of his son.
In her genes, she has retained, The mother’s heart that she obtained. A bond is made while children rest, Content and full upon her breast.
And so it’s true that from the start, She feeds them from a mother’s heart. Wives and mothers, God’s first gift, Our hearts to warm and souls to lift.
M O T H E R By Rev. Dean Beaty 5/8/05
Is there a heart that cares for some other? Then it must be the heart of a mother. Five-sixth of her name, it takes to spell other. So cherish your own, for you’ll not get another.
Five-sixth of her name, the same of her day. Devoted to others and asking no pay. Only her love could make her this way. In self-sacrificing, her love to convey.
Mothers and others, they’re almost the same. God knew this was true and gave her that name No greater goal could anyone claim. If you’re a young girl, make that your aim.
MOTHER’S PRAYERS By Rev. Dean Beaty 2/23/03
More prayers have been offered to God from this earth From mothers, for children for whom they gave birth. Than all of the prayers for illness or pain, Or even for cleansing from sin’s awful stain.
How many long nights she spent only in prayer? That God would protect them with His tender care. How many tears were shed for us as she prayed? For fear that her children might wander astray.
More souls will reach heaven, God’s glory to share. By mothers who prayed for the ones in their care. Than all of the preachers, as God’s word they bare. Or all of the churches with spires in the air.
Thank God for the mothers who pray for their own. Thank God for their tears. For us they’ve been sown. Thank God for the pathway of right that’s been shown, By mothers who kept us before Thy great throne
