I suppose I was talking in a more generalist way of keeping my head in a good space as opposed to using this as a means to facilitate my goals setting, which is not to say that I don't use it this way, just setting the boundaries for my previous comments.
My mind read on "How will I know when I get what I want?' would be along the lines of taking time out to reflect ... sometimes we can get so busy 'doing' and we don't take time to pause and see what our doing has created.
Having said that however, if you're using this as a means to fast track goal setting then having a more formal written list means you can then check things off.
And again that means taking the time to check what's happening. And here it would definitely be as you've said, 'When you know you can ask again'.
