Hello Marilyn and Friends
I so agree with the concept of marketing ones self first. This is true weather you are marketing a business, a product, or even a philosophy.
It seems that many people have forgotten the basics once they went online. People seem to think that all you have to do is reach a lot of people with your message in order to be successful. Network marketing online has become a free for all where nearly everyone you talk with has a sales pitch and little else.
When I first joined Adlandpro, I was totally impressed with the amount of genuine friendship and the exchange of information that was being developed. The forums were just buzzing with activity and people were sharing information about different beliefs and cultures from all over the world. I had 7 forums going at one time and they were all busy with hundreds of people visiting and posting in nearly all of them. Now, it is one sales pitch after another. Forum invitations are nearly all about business. Friend invitations have become nothing more than spam. The personal messaging system has been turned into just another place to run an ad. At least 95% of all correspondence I receive from other members of Adlandpro is business promotion related. People do not even take the time to put your name on the ad they send you in a friend invitation.
I truly miss the days when we actually had discussions in the forums. I miss the days when people were really interested in becoming friends for reasons other than to try to sell you something.
I am glad that you brought this topic up again. I hope that people will see this and realize that if they do not present themselves as something worthy of ones time, they will certainly not be able to successfully promote anything else.
Sincerely, Billdaddy
