The meaning of the name KAREN

Here is KAREN'S bio;

WOW!!!!!!! I don't know what else to say. This is such a surprise and honor. I will try my best to find something interesting to tell. There are so many interesting and accomplished people here at Adland I don't know what I can contribute, but I am honored anyone would want to know about me.

On the 19th day of April, 1948 I was born in Springerville, AZ. The 2nd child of C.R. Cheney and Vera Lurlene (Stine)Cheney.(no known relation to Dick). Dad found work there in a lumber mill after returning from WWII. Being natives of Missouri, my parents moved back to the midwest as soon as possible and settled in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Neither of my parents were educated past the 8th grade. Dad was a farm hand, Mom a housewife. Times were hard they said, but my earliest and fondest childhood memories are of those years on "the farm". Dad's family had ventured out west and convinced him he should have stayed there. Work was more plentiful and wages better. You guessed it, back to Ariz. we went. That was 1954 and 3 more children later.

I started 1st grade that fall in the small town of Holbrook, Ariz. on the famous Route 66. Dad found that better job driving a truck. He drove for a company named Whiting Brothers. They owned a chain of gas stations between Farmington, New Mexico and L.A. Ca. Does this somehow ring a bell? Gee! It really is a small world. Adland's very own POTW, Rick Martin related tales of Whiting Brothers in his bio and his horrible experience in Winslow, Ariz. was just 33 miles NW of Holbrook.

Life was better I suppose, but I did not like the desert. In all honesty, I have thanked God at least a million times for moving us to that desert. I got to know my paternal grandmother there. She was a very devout Christian that lived her faith. She was the most unselfish, hard working, yet joyful person I had ever, or ever came to know. Without her influence there is no telling what would have become of me. I could write an entire book about her and may someday.

Mom was a wonderful lady and memories of her are both good and bad. Due to disfunctionalities on both sides of the family, giving birth to 8 children and all but an easy life contributed to her (what I termed) emotional imbalance. I grew to realize we had switched roles somewhere on life's highway. She suffered 4 nervous breakdowns throughout her life. The 1st before I was born (while Dad was in the war), after her 8th child was born, after her mother died and after she and Dad divorced.(there's another book).

At any rate, I finished raising my 2 youngest siblings, with the help of a very understanding husband. It was 1962 when my Grandma Stine (maternal grandmother) became ill and Mom wanted to move back to Missouri. That's how I got to Nevada,Mo. I married a local fella. We were married for 17 yrs. and have 2 beautiful daughters and 5 delightful grandchildren. I divorced in 1980 and have never remarried.

I like to think of myself as self educated. The only degree I have is 98.6, give or take a degree or two occasionally. Inherited my maternal grandfathers sense of humor and strive to maintain my paternal grandmothers character and conviction. Both taught me to laugh at myself instead of others and if you put others 1st, most will return the favor. Those that don't, only strengthen your reasons to not be like them. I have done factory work,(sewing machine operator, spot welder and even built Caterpillar air filters. I have waitressed, bartended, cooked and even washed dishes. Yes, one of my brothers and I went into the restaurant business for a short time. I have been a switchboard operator, mailroom sorter, psychiatric aide, taxi driver and salesperson.

My 1st MLM attempt was with Herbalife. That just wasn't what I wanted. Watkins is an old tried and true company. I grew up with their products and enjoy finding people that remember them and trust them to be the highest quality. I have gotten into network marketing to attempt to attain enough financial independence to be able to spend more time with my family and enjoy my (Golden Years?)

Here at AdlandPro I not only get great advertising exposure, but meet and learn from such wonderful, (real) people. I can't seem to find words to express how honored I feel to be apart of this great community, much less be featured in the Parade os Stars. Thank you all so very much for selecting me.
