My son finally went to Iraq last month, something I have been preparing for for 19 years! OMG!
My son went into the Marines at 18 and missed Desert Storm with a gall baldder attack.
As the years went by and I became a grandma 3 times. saw him grauate college one day and be promoted to Lt the next-I have been slowly taken into this family of brothers and sisters.
Much closer than to his sister or to me-his dad was in the Navy-so we just are not in the club!
I have told him that I love him and support his choice and honor him for his choice every day.
You have given me a way to create a ritual between his spirit and mine, as well as all of the other parents of soldiers.
