Hi Rahul, I'm ok, how about you? I don't want everyone to be omniscient. I just don't think it's right to make a decision without having your own opinion and just basing it on a friend telling you to do it. Do drugs, it's great.. For the POTW I would rather have a low amount of informed votes than a large amount of clueless votes. Although you can't call it absolutely clueless when a friend you know and trust recommends that you vote, you could still have absolutely no clue as to wether you even like the person. I don't lose any sleep over this. :)

Hi Larry, Although ads promoting and friends suggesting is somewhat similar I think that friends have more impact than an advertisement. I am for paid promotions as they tell you some of what candidates represent.

Hey Roger, How are you? Paid promotions in election campaigns should be taken with a grain of salt. As far as I am concerned, money has corrupted the electoral process througout the world. Politicians who accept thousands, if not millions of dollars from contributors are beholden to special interests - not the public good. Re. POTW: If friends successfully present a case for one candidate, more power to them. In our small universe, I hope it is the case of choosing the best from a good crop, as opposed to the least bad from bad choices. Thanks. Hey Rahul, I'm still ok, how about you? ;) Of course paid promotions should be taken with a shovel.. But they still get to state why they feel you should vote for them. Presenting a case takes more than: "PLEASE vote for this person because he/she really deserves it" I could use more capital and repeat myself more, but you get the picture..

This community is just a microcosm of any community on- or off-line. Some people are really into it, some aren't, just like we all join certain forums and pass on others. People have the right to promote others for POTW; it's everyone's choice whether or not that person is actually voted for. It only takes a second to delete an email :-) just as it only takes a second to throw away a political mail ad.
