Fundamental Beliefs of Adventism Number 19 - Law of God
10/19/2006 11:16:11 PM

Hello my Adland Friends, we believe that salvation comes through the grace of Jesus Christ, and because of what He has done for us we spread the gospel, not to earn credit, but because we love Him, and we want to spread the good news!

~~~~~~~~~~~~
19. Law of God:
The great principles of God's law are embodied in the Ten Commandments and exemplified in the life of Christ. They express God's love, will, and purposes concerning human conduct and relationships and are binding upon all people in every age. These precepts are the basis of God's covenant with His people and the standard in God's judgment. Through the agency of the Holy Spirit they point out sin and awaken a sense of need for a Saviour. Salvation is all of grace and not of works, but its fruitage is obedience to the Commandments. This obedience develops Christian character and results in a sense of well-being. It is an evidence of our love for the Lord and our concern for our fellow men. The obedience of faith demonstrates the power of Christ to transform lives, and therefore strengthens Christian witness. (Ex. 20:1-17; Ps. 40:7, 8; Matt. 22:36-40; Deut. 28:1-14; Matt. 5:17-20; Heb. 8:8-10; John 15:7-10; Eph. 2:8-10; 1 John 5:3; Rom. 8:3, 4; Ps. 19:7-14.)
And, there are millions of people out there who make this more complex than it is!
If any of us had to earn our way into heaven, we would all be in big trouble. Salvation was bought for us for a big price that we could never repay no matter how good we are or how hard we try. And it's given to use for free, all we have to do is accept it. Once we accept this gift we're given even more gifts from our Father who offers us an abundant life full of hope and love.
Just like any father he expects us to obey him. When we are under obedience to our Father we can ask him anything believing and he
will give it to us IF it's his will for us to have what we ask for.
He knows our hearts and minds, so He knows what we will do with what he gives to us, so his answer may be no, or wait a while. But he never gives us more than we can handle. we might ask for riches, a large amount of money, or a big house, but if we're not good with money, he might not give it to us.
At the same time, we might think that we're being given bad things, but a father won't give his child a stone when he asks for a fish, and God is no different. He meets our needs, but not always our wants. And sometimes we may feel like we're suffering or doing without things we want because God doesn't love us, but that's not the case.
It's probably just that we wouldn't be able to handle it.
If we make it a practice to seek him and his will in all things, he will reward us with more of the things we want and need. He knows what these things are and will provide them for us.
Have you ever thought that you just couldn't stand the situation for one more minute when right then everything got better? He is always on time. He catches us right at the very moment when we think we're going to hit the rock bottom.
So if we're his children we should never worry. Just keep your eyes on him and know that He is there for you.
DID YOU KNOW? The U.S. Social Security Board reports that 85 out of 100 Americans reaching age 65 don't possess as much as $250. And only 2% are self-sustaining (the rest dependent on family, church, or the government)! Want to know what the "2-percenters" know that you don't? www.sfi4.com/11579740/FREE
Hi James,
G-d's law are not only the 10 commandments, but there are many laws throughout his word. The principals of giving and receiving is a spiritual law. Ths
Many are lead to believe that because of grace these laws are no longer necessary this is not true. The words says, in Psalm 119: 89 For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.  Grace is not a law to sin. Though grace the sins can be forgiven. The law showed man just how helpless he was without a saviour.
Blessings,
Geketa
Rebecca, the Lord has promised a reward to those who honor Him and keep His commandments. And please notice, the reference does not say just a few commandments, or the commandments which best fit our lifestile, it says for those who do His commandments.
"Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." Revelation 22:14
