Do we have to worry about our rights with blogging

I had made a podcast about the recent news about people suing others for blogs.  I don't know if any of you read the story..

I would think that learning how to blog and choosing your words would be a prerequisite!

So, where do you get ideas of what we can and can't do, what is required or recommended and how do we get started?

I have tried to get the hang of blogging, but I just don't get it!

All I have found are ramplings on subjects I still haven't figured out, and diaries kept online.

What exactly is the purpose and how do I get possible customers from it?

Hello Lola,

Let's make this advantageous for all. How about I walk you through this daily (or as time allows) and we get you goin. Others can watch and can follow as well and it becomes a win-win for all.

If you agree, let's start with the first step.

Write out a list of everything you know about. This will include daily house chores to anything you have studied, both schooling and on your own.

A list could include:

Daily balance of time with home, spouse and kids.
Being a Band mom.
Coupon clipping.
I'm really good at removing stains from clothing
I collect State Spoons
I maintain 2 fish tanks
I like bicycling
I walk 3 miles a day
I volunteer with the Adopt-A-Highway program
I like washing and detailing my car
I raise Syberian Huskies
I know how to design webpages in CSS and HTML
I know RSS coding
I am a Ham Operator

These are some ideas and don't think anything is off-limits.

You can even cover personal ideas as well.

I discuss how to keep my relationship fresh
I discuss likes and dislikes of various styles of undergarments
I collect Playboy or Playgirl
I share with my daughter or son a certain hobby
etc ...

So make your list and let's see what we have to work with.

Hi Phelina,

You bring a topic to the table that really needs to be mentioned.

Bloggers being sued.

Some people just write and think they will be protected by the right to 'freedom of speech'. But, they also need to think of the other laws ... slander, libel and so on.

Writers have a responsibility to tell the truth even in there opinions but need to tactful in how they deliver their messege.

We see alot of unconcious writings in places like MySpace. They just don't care what or how they say something. And they surely don't care who they offend by some of the language used.

Thanks for pointing out about the law suits and hope others take heed to what they write about.

Best to you.

Kenneth
