Re: Are You A Victim Of MoreThanTraffic.com? Then read this ...

This came in from another forum and well worth the read. Re: MoreThanTraffic.com http://www.scam.com/showthread.php?postid=214929#post214929 Posted by: richardboyce On: 06-27-2006 11:14 AM We're all out of the magical anti-scam fairy dust that makes them instantly disappear. Do you have some? LS The average time in the US from the date the first complaints are made to the time the scammers go to trial (If Ever) is 2 years One scam in San Diego took 8 years to get to trial. It generally takes many months for the FTC to make a move and shut a website down and even then only if there are a huge number of complaints. The fact that MTT is based in the UK is encouraging because they generally act a little quicker but don't expect anything to happen soon. The simple fact is that in recent years there have been far too many online scams and not enough resources being made available to stop them. Greenzap, like MTT, was (IS) a blatant scam. The owners made no attempt to provide the service their members paid for and, more importantly, they made no attempt to hide their true identities. All the main players in Greenzap are real, they use their real names. This is how confident these people have become. This is why I was convinced from the start that Simon Baxter was for real. And I still firmly believe this to be the case. The majority of scam victims never file a complaint, most are too embarrased to admit they were suckered. This is why I keep making the point that victims should not waste time filing online complaints, the agencies involved get so many complaints they only act when large numbers are scammed or large amounts of cash are involved. The only way to ensure MTT are shut down and brought to justice for their actions is to contact your local cops. Once you've contacted your local cops then by all means file online complaints as well to ensure those responsible are on record. In the US those with a history of scamming can be hit by a RICO action http://www.ricoact.com/ricoact/nutshell.asp Beware of new posters who appear to have all the answers or suggest you contact them for help. Posters here have been getting phishing links in their PM's, me included. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phishing Unless, like us, you have the best security on your systems you could be traced this way and I can guarantee you will be harrassed, threatened or even stalked. Those who followed the Greenzap thread will know I'm not exaggerating. I've been accused here of being paranoid, this is based on experience. Don't click on links posted here or in your PM's unless you know the person posting. If you're a victim of MTT don't post here, just pick up the phone and call your local cops for advice.
