Peter, There is always someone that is constantly downgrading other for at least trying to do. These people don't do anything except find falt with others and trying all the time to prove a level of intelligence. I am sorry that I insulted yours Ralph

Ralph, My point was that you need to be accurate when attempting to supply information, you were not. There is far to much mis-information that people pass around on a daily basis and setting someone straight when they attempt to do so needs to be done. Posting something that leads to mis-information does nobody any good what so ever. In regards to people trying to show or prove a level of intelligence, I allow most peoples post to do that for themselves. Poor spelling, poor grammer, poor use of the english language is often times something we see far to much of, it is excused in a lot cases where english is not a persons first language. But if one takes a few minutes and previews a post they can correct that before allowing others to form whatever opinion(s) they might. If one decides that they do not need to do that, then they themsleves set the level of intelligence that people see in them. Always ask yourself, "What does this post contribute to the forum?", before hitting the post button. Often times I will write a post and decide to hit Cancel as opposed to Post if at the time I feel it does not contribute to the topic at hand.

Linda, Amazing, isn't it? EVERYBODY hates this type of advertising. You call it: ========== "drive by ads." ========== ... Good description. I referred to it on another thread as an air raid - in comes the bomber, drops its payload, then flies out to another target. And what are the people who this advertising is aimed at doing? They are madly scrambling for cover! The success rate of this form of spamvertising must be so close to ZERO yet people keep doing it. What was that definition of stupidity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. ============ "I *used to* get hate mail in response. Some of it was pretty nasty." ============ Many people become defensive or reactive when they goof up and somebody lets them know. Some get positively vengeful. That's life, I'm afraid. Being nasty or vindictive when YOU (not you Linda) are clearly at fault just shows that you are still in emotional kindergarten and you have not matured properly as an adult. With regard to Ralph and Peter's "discussion" I have to side with Peter because I just could not make "head nor tail" of what you wrote Ralph. Then to top it off you shotgun us with about 24 lines of advertising. Ralph, do you really think ANYBODY is gonna try to pick something out of that "lucky dip" of links to all sorts of things? If you narrowed it down and made it more manageable then maybe you would get better results. But that's just my opinion - one of the people you are trying to entice. Gary

Hi, Linda I like your term 'drive-by' ad. Here, a 'drive-by' shooting is usually gang-related and is the utmost in cowardice...a sneak attack followed by a runaway. I recently had to ban a user from my forum, first time ever. The first two threads he started were deleted with an explanation that I didn't allow advertising. When he posted the third I said, three strikes, you're out! I'm sorry that it had to happen, but I can't have people thinking that I agree with or even condone what he's advertising. No hate mail yet, we'll see. I also like Georgios' term, parasitic. That's exactly what I think these people are doing, piggybacking on the perceived popularity of the forum owner to get their message seen by as many people as possible before the owner deletes them. I'm glad you've left the above conversation in for this thread...you can really see the difference in the credibility of the shooter versus your regulars. Cheri

Heh, Cheri.. ============= "you can really see the difference in the credibility of the shooter versus your regulars." ============= Too true. Well said! Gary ===================== Line 1 of advertising. Buy this gizmo. Line 2 of advertising. Buy this whizzbang. Line 3 of advertising. Join my MLM where I'm making no money but if I headhunt you then I'll get paid a commission. Line 4 of advertising. Join my autosurf/ponzi/dailypro. Line 5 of advertising. Buy this gadget for the gizmo above - it also works well with the whizzbang. Line 6 of advertising. If you don't like any of that then join my porn-affiliate site. ===================== Duh!
