The story of Šárka (a woman's name) is a myth dealing with events in the "Maidens' War" in seventh-century Bohemia. It first appeared in the twelfth-century Chronica Boëmorum of Cosmas of Prague, and later in the fourteenth-century Dalimil's Chronicle. Ctirad and Šárka, sculpture by Josef Václav Myslbek (1881) Enlarge Ctirad and Šárka, sculpture by Josef Václav Myslbek (1881) Following the death of Libuše, Vlasta leads a band of Amazonian women against the male forces of Libuše's widower, Přemysl. Šárka, Vlasta's lieutenant, entraps a band of armed men led by Ctirad by tying herself to a tree and claiming that the rebel maidens tied her there and put a horn and a jug of mead out of reach to mock her. Ctirad believes her story and unties her from the tree, whereupon she pours the mead for the men as a celebratory thank-you gift. Little do the men know that Šárka and the maidens have put a sleeping potion into the mead. When all the men have fallen asleep, Šárka blows the horn as a signal for the rebel maidens to come out of their hiding places and join her in slaughtering the men. ____________________________________________ Wellcome to Prague! Sarka, why do You want to kill me? I lived in Prague from 1945 (after second world war ) till 1990! Now I am living about 20 km far from Prague! Several years I lived streight near this nice place - named "Wild Sarka" too. Why? This is so nice valey and rocky mountains and two big basseins for swimming. I offen run out thru this valey with my dog (dalmatin was to wait for me offen!) or with my little children (it is not true now) or to swimm! It is impossible to forget any minute spend in this one from nicest place in Prague tourists pass by car or bus from (or to) airport (Prague has airport very very near from town - i think nearest in the world). It is a reason plains fly straight on my head now. I am happy my excellent friend Sarka is not "wild" and she is not "Amazonian woman". Women always win! I must now go to for a walk to "put down" emotions... (or to garden). Welcome to Prague, it is so unordinary town....In any place walked the history!!! Hi Mirek. Thts nice place is near to way to Prague Air. My Father was there, If I was born and so I become my name. Divoka Sarka is nice Park or Garden, if you will. A huge park that's truly preserved nature. Trails lead every which way into a quasi-forest, where you can seek creeks and little waterfalls. Many places to sit by the grass or just hike your way around. Also offering swimming in the form of a public pool complex in the middle of the parkand a natural lake as well. Don't be frightened by the McDonald's that dominates the park entrance. You'll soon be past it and among the trees. You can see here: http://www.allpraha.com/images/collateral/m/40663.jpg what to say? Prag is the Heart of Europa. Is good to visit Prague!!! Prague Bonus Card Prague Bonus Card

Hi Sarka and Miroslav (Mirek), I have never been to Prague but it is so nice to hear two 'locals' reminiscing and speaking so affectionately about their home town. The park sounds wonderful and I'm not surprised if Miroslav's dog had to wait for him, after all, Dalmatians were guards dogs for coaches and would run for several hours every day when on duty. Whether I will ever get to visit Prague, I don't know. There are so many places I have not been to, even here in Spain, that my wanderlust will have to be satisfied with what I can read in books, see on film or find from the internet and friends. Regards.

Hi, From this moment, Sarka, everybody in our community would know the greatest and famoust holder of this girl-name. Some specialist of history said, that girls-war was not really, that it is only legendary. Why to fight with pretty girls? Czech Kingdom in all history never begun any war and we are proud of it!!! But this place is really very nice and romantical. Who from our community will be first here and approve it? I am prepared to help you and invite You in this place on!!!
