Path To WW3? Russia Flies Jets Over U.S. Military Bases After Threats From Trump; Bolton To Get Out of Venezuela; NATO Drills In Europe

U.S. and Russian tensions are picking up, and several geopolitical moves have been made in the past week with much of the press mum on what’s happening between the U.S. and Russia over Venezuela and Ukraine.

Last week, the Russians sent troops into Venezuela with the speculatory number being a total of 100 soldiersdeployed. Auspiciously, immediately after this, the U.S. Air Force deployed six nuclear-capable B-52 bombers to Europe to send a “message to Russia,” Real Clear Defense reported.

The U.S. Air Force is carrying out “theater integration and flight training” out of London’s RAF Fairford station, which will help prepare airmen to use the base as their forward operating location for bombers in Europe, the Air Force said last week.

“Training with joint partners, allied nations and other U.S. Air Force units contributes to our ready and postured forces and enables us to build enduring and strategic relationships necessary to confront a broad range of global challenges,” the Air Force said.

Meanwhile, simultaneously the U.S. Air Forces Pacific also launched B-52 bombers from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, Air Force Times reported.

The Kremlin accused the U.S. of escalating tensions by flying its B-52 bombers near its border. Russia’s Defense Ministry further claimed it prepared two Sukhoi SU-27 fighter jets to intercept a U.S. aircraft before it changed its direction, Reuters reported.

Trump administration national security adviser John Neocon Bolton threatened Russia for sending in troops into Venezuela, stating that any move to expand operations there would be considered a “direct threat” to international peace, Reuters reported.

“We strongly caution actors external to the Western Hemisphere against deploying military assets to Venezuela, or elsewhere in the Hemisphere, with the intent of establishing or expanding military operations,” White House national security adviser John Bolton said in a statement.

“We will consider such provocative actions as a direct threat to international peace and security in the region,” Bolton added.

Almost immediately after this, Russia flew its own Tu-154M aircraft over several military installations in California and Nevada such as Edwards Air Force Base and Fort Irwin National Training Center, including Area 51, as part of the Treaty on Open Skies agreement, The Drive reported.

This also came after U.S. President Donald Trump’s loose-lipped statement that “Russia has to get out” of Venezuela and “all options are open” in ensuring that Russia withdraws from the socialist nation. It also followed comments just one day after Elliot Abrams, Washington’s envoy to Venezuela, threatened that “the Russians will pay a price” for allegedly helping prepare the country with S-300 surface-to-air missile defense systems for combat.

The Russian government response is that U.S. plans for regime change; Moscow has been thwarted since it has sent in its military, and the U.S. is nervous, MSN reported.

Other things to note: both Russia and the U.S. have pulled out of the INF Treaty which governs the two nations not using nuclear weaponry. The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, banned land-based nuclear missiles in Europe during the Cold War. This followed a month after with Russia running a drill flying two of its nuclear-capable strategic Tu-160 bombers over the Caribbean Sea and Venezuela during a 10-hour training mission, presumably in response to U.S. threats to withdraw from the treaty with Russia, WSBTV reported. The U.S. claimed that Russia’s 9M729 cruise missile breaches the INF treaty, Activist Post reported.

Russia also tested its “Avangard” hypersonic weapons and an underwater nuclear-capable drone that Activist Post reported Putin had teased.

Russia further plans to build a base and a military presence in La Orchila, Venezuela, also presumably in response to the U.S. suggesting it will pull out of the INF treaty, according to TASS.

According to military envoys, Russian authorities have made a decision (and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro did not object) to deploy strategic aircraft to one of Venezuela’s islands in the Caribbean Sea, which has a naval base and a military airfield. Ten years ago, Russian experts and Armed Forces commanders had already visited the island of La Orchila, located 200 kilometers northeast of Caracas. Venezuelan laws prohibit the setup of military bases in the country, but a temporary deployment of warplanes is possible.

'I Love God': Hollywood Actress Says She Believes in God, Then Misuses the Bible to Promote Abortion

04-02-2019

Actress Alyssa Milano is an outspoken pro-abortion advocate who is outraged by Georgia's "heartbeat" bill. The bill bans abortions as soon as a baby's heartbeat is detected, which can be as early as six weeks into the pregnancy.

Milano is publicly fighting the measure by partnering with other celebrities who vow to boycott Georgia if it is signed into law. On Monday, Milano posted a list of Hollywood celebrities who refuse to business with the peach state if the pro-life bill passes.

Milano also turned to scripture in an attempt to find a biblical basis for her pro-choice stance.

"I love God. I believe in God," she began. "But I don't believe my personal beliefs of which we can't confirm should override scientific facts and what we can confirm."

Milano concluded her tweet with a quote from John 3:12, "If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?"

I love God. I believe in God.

But I don’t believe my personal beliefs of which we can’t confirm should override scientific facts and what we can confirm.

“If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?” John 3:12

Pro-life advocates swiftly called out Milano for using the Bible to support abortion.

"You don't have to love God to acknowledge the irrefutable science that a unique, individual human life begins at the moment of conception," said Live Action president Lila Rose. "But if you love God, then you also will love His children. He's a father, and every single one of us are created in His image."

"This tweet shows that you have very little knowledge of both theology and science," 'Relatable' podcast host Allie Beth Stuckey chimed in.

Meanwhile, Milano continues to threaten Georgia lawmakers with boycotts. In a letter addressed to Georgia House Speaker David Ralston and Republican Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, she calls the bill evil.

"This bill would remove the possibility of women receiving reproductive healthcare before most even know they are pregnant and force many women to undergo unregulated, hidden procedures at great risk to their health," the letter says, according to Deadline.

"We can't imagine being elected officials who had to say to their constituents, 'I enacted a law that was so evil, it chased billions of dollars out of our state's economy.' It's not the most effective campaign slogan, but rest assured we'll make it yours should it come to pass," she said

Evacuations ordered after unprecedented floods hit Iran - Golestan province received 70% of its annual rainfall in ONE day

Iran has ordered the evacuation of about 70 villages in the south-western province of Khuzestan due to a growing risk of floods, state media report.

At least 45 people have died in the past two weeks after heavy rains, with flooding affecting at least 23 of the country's 31 provinces.

The orders come as Foreign Minister Javad Zarif accused US sanctions of impeding aid efforts to affected areas.

"This isn't just economic warfare; it's economic terrorism," Mr Zarif tweeted.

US sanctions imposed after President Donald Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal last year have caused a shortage of rescue helicopters.

The Iranian authorities have requested military help, including helicopters and amphibious armoured personnel carriers, for the rescue efforts.

Evacuation orders were issued to seventy villages near the Dez and Karkheh rivers in the oil-rich province of Khuzestan, the governor of Shush country told the official Irna news agency.

Storms forecast for the coming days are predicted to affect the west and southwest of the country.

Tens of thousands of people have already been displaced, with many being housed in emergency shelter, according to state media.

Two more people died in Hamedan province on Tuesday, Irna said, citing an official from the Red Crescent aid agency.

Authorities in the western province of Lorestand brought in the armed forces to evict those who did not comply with the evacuation order.

Governor General Mousa Khademi told the Isna news agency that they had lost all contact with the town of Pol-e Dokhtar.

"We do not have any information on the situation there," he said, adding that they did not know how many people had been affected.

Pence warns Turkey

US Vice President warns Turkey against buying Russian anti-missile system.

Elad Benari,

US Vice President Mike Pence warned Turkey on Wednesday against buying the Russian S-400 anti-missile system, Reuters reported.

“Turkey must choose. Does it want to remain a critical partner in the most successful military alliance in history or does it want to risk the security of that partnership by making such reckless decisions that undermine our alliance?” Pence was quoted as having said in remarks at a NATO event in Washington.

“We’ve also made it clear that we will not stand idly by while NATO allies purchase weapons from our adversaries that threaten the cohesion of our alliance,” Pence added.

US officials said earlier this week that Washington had stopped delivery of F-35 fighter jet parts to Turkey in response to Ankara's decision to move ahead with the purchase of the Russian surface-to-air missile system.

Ankara's push to buy the systems from Moscow has caused tensions with the US, its NATO ally.

Military experts are concerned that the deployment of S-400s would put the security of allied weapon systems, particularly F-35 aircraft and radar facilities, in danger.

The US believes the S-400 sale is part of Russian efforts to disrupt the alliance amid Western concern over Erdogan's burgeoning relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The US has been warning Turkey for months that buying the Russian S-400 system would jeopardize its planned purchase of the advanced fighter aircraft. The halt in the delivery of parts and manuals is the first step toward ending the actual aircraft sale.

Turkey struck back promptly at Pence on Wednesday, with Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay issuing his own warning on Twitter.

“The United States must choose. Does it want to remain Turkey’s ally or risk our friendship by joining forces with terrorists to undermine its NATO ally’s defense against its enemies?” he wrote.

Earlier Wednesday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Turkey has proposed to the United States that they form a working group to determine that Russian S-400 missile defense systems do not pose a threat to US or NATO military equipment.

“It will not be integrated into the NATO system ... therefore we propose the United States to establish a technical working group to make sure that this system will not be a threat - neither to (U.S.) F-35s nor the NATO systems,” Cavusoglu told a panel in the United States.

In January, Turkey rejected a US offer to cancel its purchase of S-400 missiles from Russia. This came after a spokesman for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made clear that Turkey’s purchase of US missiles will not affect its deal to acquire rival S-400 missiles from Russia.

Erdogan insisted last month that Turkey's deal to buy Russian S-400 missile defense systems had "nothing to do" with the security of the US.

‘US must choose between Turkey and terrorists’: Ankara slaps Pence with counter-ultimatum

Edited time: 4 Apr, 2019 10:38

© Reuters / Umit Bektas

Turkey’s vice president said his US counterpart must choose between an alliance with a loyal NATO partner or siding with terrorists, after Mike Pence issued an ultimatum for Ankara to pick its F-35 jets over Russian S-400 systems.

“The United States must choose. Does it want to remain Turkey’s ally or risk our friendship by joining forces with terrorists to undermine its NATO ally’s defense against its enemies?” Vice President Fuat Oktay tweeted, in response to Mike Pence’s demands.

The United States must choose. Does it want to remain Turkey’s ally or risk our friendship by joining forces with terrorists to undermine its NATO ally’s defense against its enemies?

The Turkish official did not make clear what “terrorists” he was talking about. Ankara is at odds with Washington over the military support it provides to Syrian Kurdish militias which are designated as terrorist organizations in Turkey.

That aside, self-exiled Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen, whose entity Turkey accuses of plotting the 2016 coup attempt, has found a safe haven in the US which also poisons relations between the two NATO allies.

Earlier on Wednesday, the US second-in-command demanded that Ankara “choose” whether it wants to remain a“critical” NATO partner or jeopardize its alliance membership by “reckless decisions” such as the purchase the Russian S-400 air defense systems.

The Twitter battle between two top politicians erupted two days after the Pentagon stopped shipping equipment related to the F-35 fighter jet to Turkey. The DoD made clear that deliveries will not resume unless Turkey abandons its purchase of Russian hardware.

Turkey, which has been a vital partner in the F-35 program, once again reminded the US on Wednesday that its S-400 purchase was a “done deal.”

“[S-400s] will not be integrated into the NATO system,” Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Wednesday, advocating the setting up of a multi-party technical group that would ensure the air defense system “will not be a threat” to either the F-35 or other NATO systems. He also hinted that the issue will most likely be resolved between President Donald Trump and Turkish President Recep Erdogan.

Turkey has long insisted that, as a sovereign nation, it has the right to choose its trade partners and arms suppliers, repeatedly stressing that buying Russian systems is vital for the country’s national defense, amid the ongoing Syrian conflict right on its doorstep.

Besides tensions centering around arms deals, Turkey has been expressing continuing concerns over Washington’s support to the Syrian Kurdish militias, which are at the forefront of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Ankara considers Kurdish forces in both Syria and Iraq as a “terrorist” extension of the Workers’ Party of Kurdistan (PKK), a decades-old Turkey-based insurgency.
