Hi Judy. I can understand you as in these speedy days is hard to keep up with traditions. They are somehow time consuming :-) But what can we do! Christmas I like a lot, but I feel like you sometimes about New Years Eve! Is great to have a party, but why such a great fuss, and as you say excess. I try to keep things in a limit. WIsh you try the same and focus on enjoing yourself. Wish you to have a great Holiday season :-)

Hi Ana Maria, Thank you for sharing your Christmas traditions with us! It's fun to find out what people do in other areas of the world. I hope it has not become as commercialized in Romania as it is here. The reason for the season is nearly buried in commerce in the western world. It has become a season of getting rather than giving. It is so important to remember that we are celebrating the greatest gift ever given, the Saviour, Jesus Christ. God bless, Dave

Hi Dave. I like very much our Christmas. But I see there some danger of loosing the sparkle if everyone has to obay some stupid rules. But I won't debate this now as I want to keep it festive. I'll continuue posting some of our customes. Sometimes technology harms. Wish you enjoy them.

Hi Ana Maria: This was great. I have heard of many European customs throughout the years but have never heard of Romanian customs. One common custom of all the countries seems to be the sharing through song. I love the simplicity of what you have described---use what you have. A broom stick, straw, pig, singing etc. We in America think we have to buy all for the occassion. Merry Christmas! Mary http://hofs.en101.biz one language-one world learn English or Spanish--a gift that keeps giving.
