Rebecca, That anger will eat anyone alive. You may have to do just that.... Leave!!! That could be a huge calling for him. I did the same thing with my Husband!! He ended up in a 28 day program and is a new man today because of it. They have to open there eyes and see that no one is going to take that kind of bull. Meds might help to some extent, but all in all it is the persons responsability to change and get the help needed. If he Drinks that is a huge time bomb on your hands right there. I know some people are sooooo bad that they need constent care from a doctor, but allot do not. It is all about how you want to be, not be. The Choice is yours, Everyone has a choice. Please feel free to talk more if you need to. That is what this Forum is for, Support. Your Friend,

Hi everyone: I have lived with a daughter who suffers manic depression. She moved back home with 2 children and made my life a miserable wreck. After reading a book titled "Co-dependent No More" (took a year and many more problems) I finally severed the tie. Whatever happens to her, she can only blame herself. No more "cleaning up" after her bad decisions. I have a motto at my door on the wall "If you do what you have always done, you will get what you always got". She had to pass that sign and see it as she grabbed the door knob, and she would steal my car and go do drugs for up to 6 days anyway. So I can only be responsible for me and my actions. Now I claim the sign for ME. Enough is enough. On another forum, I posted a paragraph about Anger and being justified. The point is no one can take my joy unless I let them.

Hello again Mary. I can understand your feelings and I respect your opinion. There is no doubt that some people will hide behind the facade of a mental illness in order to cover up their own character flaws and shortcommings. However there are many more people who truly do suffer with a mental illness and really do need the support and understanding of friends and family. An example of this has to do with my lost girlfriend. Because of the fact that her family gave up on her and her no longer trusting me because of her schizophrenia, it may be that none of us will ever get to see her again. I had to have her admitted into the hospital because of an accute schizophrenic episode so now she thinks I am the enemy. She was discharged in less than 2 weeks and no one will tell us where she is or how she is doing. Now we can only miss her, hope that she is OK and wonder if we will ever see her alive again. I can only hope that your daughter is only hiding behind a make believe illness or that some day she realizes that she is ill and gets the help she needs in order to survive. I wish you well Mary and I hope your daughter finds her way back home again, in a much better state of mind. Sincerly, Bill Vanderbilt / Fanbelt

Hi William, I understand only too well the effects a bi-polar can have on someone. My son Brian (http://www.BrianMichaelGuthrie.com) had been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder about 2 years before his passing in 2003. I think it is a much misunderstood and greatly un-diagnosed condition in the world. Thanks for shining the light on it.
