Hi Mattis,
Jews have been taken captive and hated among so many nations for such a long time. I think at times G-d allows this so he can prove time and again Jews are the "apple of his eye" and His chosen people and he will never forget the covenant he made and help remind others he means what he says and he is still on the throne.
