Wouldn't you like to be a blogger too?
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg

I recently read an article pertaining to the five most popular blogging systems. I found the article quite interesting, to say the least, considering my background as an RSS feed publisher.

In this article, the top five ranged in price from free to well... not free. Some of the paid services charge monthly, while others charge a flat fee for use. User-friendliness ranged from: for the brain dead, to quite sophisticated. Of course, the more sophisticated systems also require that you have your own server to install it on.

The one thing that I noticed in these top five blogging programs was that the author never mentioned whether or not any of these programs generates a live RSS feed.

I find this interesting, because the best way to go after exposure for your blog is to syndicate it. Why publish if you can't syndicate? Don't you care whether or not it is read? The whole point of publishing is to get your information in front of others' eyeballs, right?

This is how I do it...

I use a system created by a company called, Quikonnex. Quikonnex has been my blogging, RSS platform since 2003; before blogging was really cool. In fact, I am a founding publisher. However, please don't think that my opinion of the Quikonnex system is biased, because I have used others. Of the others, all I can say is that they are the VW's; Quikonnex is the Rolls Royce.

Why do I say that? Because it's the truth! Quikonnex is not just a method of creating and syndicating content, but rather, a whole communications system, that is web based and requires no personal server of the user.

Using this system, I can do so much more than just publish a blog. I can organize my entire life, send and receive secure instant messages, keep track of my favorite sites, manage my contacts... the list goes on.

How many communication and organizational tools do you have installed on your computer? Things like: Yahoo Messenger, Skype, conferencing software, address books, calendars, HTML editors, feed readers, and such. I have all those types of applications rolled into one desktop application, courtesy of Quikonnex and their outstanding service.

Running a zillion applications at once really slows down a computer. I don't have that problem. I have one application running that does all of the things that all those other programs do, without hogging resources.

Is Quikonnex free? Yes and no. Anyone can sign up for a Quikonnex membership for free, which permits access to all of Quikonnex features, save for one. A monthly membership fee is charged for actual publishing privileges. For example, I am a publisher; therefore, I pay a monthly fee and I have the ability to publish as many channels on the Quikonnex server, as I desire. Currently, I publish more than ten channels.

There are many benefits to having a publisher account with Q; too many, in fact, to list. Is the publisher membership worth the money? Undeniably! If it weren't, I wouldn't have paid them every month for the last five years.

Did I mention that the desktop application I spoke of, is free to all members? It is, and I give it out to everyone, so they can enjoy the benefits I have found using it. I think that it is such an awesome piece of software that I wrote the DeskView User's Guide, to assist users in implementing all of its features and applications.

In my opinion, Quikonnex should be at the top of the list, for blogging software. It's affordable, syndicatable, and does much, much more than any of the others.
