THE INVISIBLE CHILDREN
There are so many great kids that do wonderful things in our Communities, but far too often the public never hear about these youths. This week I chose to write about an organization called "The Invisible Children".
"The Invisible Children" organization got started after the movie aired called, "Invisible Children: Rough Cut" which was about the children in Uganda, Africa, as well as other African countries.
There are many kids all over the United States now that have joined the group, and they are wanting to make a difference in the lives of the Ugandan children. If you go to their website, Invisible Children, you will find 3 sections under the movie...the Blog, the Teacher Exchange Program, and lastly a section called Give Peace. The Blog has story after story of kids from all around the country that are doing things to try and help make a difference.
One story is about these two 16 year old boys that want to make a difference, and they are Guadalupe Salazar and Nye Beamer, and they go to Phoenix School in Roseburg, Alabama. The boys watched the movie in their class, and after watching it the 2 boys felt compelled to do something, so they spoke with their teachers and school board. They have received the backing of everyone concerned. The kids are now raising $15,000 so that they along with 2 adults can go to Tanzania, Africa. Once they go there they will be helping out in an orphanage teaching the kids about math, science, reading and many other subjects.
This is just another great example of what our youth of today are doing to try and make our world a better place. If you would like to make a donation to this organization click on the Give Peace. link in their website and you can get all the information there to do so.
