Close Your Browser Before AND After
8/10/2005 8:01:52 AM
We all know (or should know) that the bigger things are important. 1. Have a reliable firewall and configure it properly. 2. Have a reliable anti-virus software and keep it updated and configured properly. 3. Have a reliable program to block spyware But any LITTLE thing we can do should not be overlooked either. Here is something that was brought to my attention some time ago. When you are logging in to your online banking or any other online financial transaction program such as Paypal, etc BE SURE that you close your web browser first. Open your web browser and type in the url you need using https (not just the usual http) NOTE THE "S" at the end of http. Do your online banking. BE SURE to log out. Then CLOSE your browser again BEFORE going to any other website. Make it a 4 step procedure. 1. Close your browser 2. Open your browser 3. do your transactions 4. Close your browser Eileen, do you agree? The reason behind this procedure is because some websites can tell where you were immediately BEFORE going to them and can tell where you go immediately AFTER leaving them. Scary isn't it? Wayne

Wayne, Yes it is Scary! I do agree, Although some banks don't have the http(s) options.SO You still have to be careful. I also use Fraud Eliminator For my web browser. It will block out a Fraudeulant site from being viewed. You can see that on my website: http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/HARV2416/ Thanks for the Help Wayne :)
