In my previous letter I have actually written about the resurrection of Christ in my heart. Such is my understanding of the much praised Resurrection. It is Spiritual, giving you a new heart, a new eye and new ears, spiritual ones.
1.)There is thus an Agreement between the Bahai Faith and Christs Faith. As for me, my own heart has told me that, already long ago. and this knowledge has stayed with me and I will carry it forward into the worlds beyond, if I don't fail.
I believe this is the most vital spiritual point of Christianity. As an ordinary earthly creature strolling about here for a while I do appreciate the miracles of Christ too. But as I have understood He doesn't stress the miracles, on the contrary He asks the disciples not to tell about them.
Bahaullah has also performed miracles. Like waking up dead people. The Bab going out through the wall of the the prison cell just to pray peacefullyin the light of the moon. I'd say, as a believer, the awakening of the Hidden Heart inside and letting it be filled with Love is a much more important and wonderful thing than anything else in the whole world. Isn't the world , ever since there was a song, being sung, constantly letting out its longing for love and peace carried by the tones of a melody. It is sung there in the radios and the scenes all the world over. The voices from the worlds stages is about the longing for the miracle of love. There is actually a song, remember,"The miracle of love" being song in these days.
However that may be, many Christians stress miracles and that the miracles Christ performed are thought to be signs of His divine Origine. I agree that these things cannot be performed by ordinary men.But we, Bahais are not explicitly bidden to believe in them. Only in the Virgin Birth of Christ. Personally I think they had most importance to the peoples of that remote day.
2.)Also we may agree that Jesus Christ was the Son of God. From the Christian point of view it is a physical Sonship. The Bahai point of view is that it is a Spiritual Sonship. It signifies a Spiritual relationship with God. Likewise others can have that relationsship.
In John 1:12-13 we are told: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Also we can read in Paul, (Rom.8:14): For as many as are led by the spirit of God, these are the sons of God.
Again John writes(1 John 3:1, Rev. 21:7): "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!"
3.)As I said above The Bahais are bidden by Bahaullah to believe in the Virgin Birth of Christ. So we accept that. Here again we agree. There is no doubt about it.
And now I come to the chapter of sin. It is believed among Christians that Christs sinlessness is due to the Virgin Birth. 4.)Bahais believe He was without sin. On this we can agree.
The reason for His sinlessness is for Bahais that His Spirit was of God, not that he had no earthly father. He was born of the Holy Spirit and this is the reason for His never making a sin, we believe..
If not having a physical father is the reason for being sinless then Adam is in a great position. However, he sinned, although He had no father nor a mother.
Often I hear Christians say:. the teachings of God has only been delivered once and for all by Jesus the Christ. As for the prophets of old they are seemingly uninteresting to a Christian, maybe they mean, they were not the sons of God. I am not sure what they mean. It is however asserted that Christ is the one and only true Deliverer of a Message from God. The world outside the realm of the teachings of Christ and the Bible is told to be bereft of grace of God, in the past as well as in the future. We believe this is unfair. And God is not unfair. He loves all mankind. Here are proofs of that.
As a Bahai I go directly to the Bible. You can see, I give quotes from the Bible as a source of divine Knowledge. Hear Peter: (Acts. 10:35)
"God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him"
Also in Titus.2:11 we can read: "the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men."
These teachings truly are evidence that God is the God for all men, wherever they may worship Him . Also, the Bible itself clearly shows that the Gospel isn't the last revelation of God. According to the Bible's teachings , when Christ returns He will "make all things new' (Rev.21:5). In Isaiah 2:3 we read the following: "He will teach us His ways."
The spiritual teachings of the Bible will never change but, again Christ will teach us 'His Way', though expressing it in a 'new' or different form. See John 14:26 (My own translation:) "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, who the Father shall send in My name, He shall teach you everything and remind you about all that I have taught you." It just struck me, that is precisely what I am doing now, reminding you, following the advices and instructions given to me, an informer. This is worth repeating, don't you think: "He shall teach you everything" Bye for now from your friend Laila
