The Russian author Isabel Grinevsky wrote a great work of drama with the title The Bab, that was published in S.t Petersburg in May 1903. It was composed as a poem and a play. It gave the enlightening history of the Herald of the Bahai Faith, the young Bab and His disciples, the scenes were set in Persia. This drama was shown in one of the...foremost theaters in St.Petersburg in January 1904 and was much noted . Some critics were very positive. Among them was the poet Fiedler, who translated the drama to German.: He wrote among other things: 'From the five parts of the poetic drama of the Bab we get more information about the Bahai-movement than from the deep scientific research done by professor Edward G.Browne, Gobineau and the Russian scientists and historians...Seldom has a play received such fame, before it was played on scene.' 'Leo Tolstoy read this drama about the Bab with keen interest' his secretary Valentin Bulgakov said,' and he wrote a letter to Isabel Grinevsky. He praised her work and said he was in agreement of the teachings of the Bahai Faith.' His letters to her was published in the Russian press and Tolstoy kept studying the Bahai Teachings in his old days with a growing interest. He gathered and gave away Bahai litterature in many languages. Isabel Grinevskys play ,Bab, received much publicity in London, was translated to French in Paris and soon after the Russian revolution the play was also shown on the Peoples Theater of St. Petersburg. www.Bahai.org and www.
