There are so many great kids that do wonderful things in our Communities, but far too often the public never hears about those youths. This week I chose to write about a Teen Group called "CARE BAGS FOUNDATION". The organization was founded in January 2000 by Annie Wignall, who was only 11 years old at the time.
Annie came up with the idea for this project after learning about many kids being in crisis situations and having to leave their homes, sometimes with only the clothes on their back. Annie wanted to do something to help these kids have a better life. They provide care bags with new, essential, fun items that are appropriately matched to the child's age. They help all kids from newborn babies up to 18 years of age that are in need.
Annie's mission, "Our goal to help as many kids in need as we can, for as long as we can, and to encourage others to do the same".
The Foundation fill up Care Bags with items donated by individuals, groups, businesses, as well as some service agencies, who hand-deliver the Care Bags for them. There are many ways that someone can help, such as, donating money, buying items in need, volunteering their time, or start a project in their own area.
If you would like to donate to the Care Bags Foundation, go to the website to see what items are needed then send them, or money, to:
