Admin To Breath or Not To Breathe...Jane's Sunday Sermon
Hi thomas
Yesterday one of our wonderful subscribers sent me a short email and reminded me to...
" Breathe, Jane....Breath, The World Will Wait"
Those short words are true words of wisdom and a reminder to us all to slow down, especially at this time of year which can get overwhelming.
Jane's Sundy Sermon
To Breathe or Not To Breath
I don't know about you but my life can get pretty hectic.
I am about to cook a Turkey with all the trimmings next week and cart a whole meal way across town to my waiting family who, I am sure will all comment on how great it is except for the...ya di da...that I forget to bring or the gravy which may not be traditional:)
And oh that chatter about last year and how the Apple pie this year is better or worse and the Cherry pie not quite tart enough.
Then there is always uncle Murray at the table, who will upset the apple cart by coming out swinging about the upcoming presidential race and he is always on the wrong side:)
The gang gangs up on him.
It is up to me, at that point, to say "More, Turkey, Murray" He can't talk when his mouth is full:)
Do you have any idea how much work goes into preparing a Thanks Giving Dinner. Of course you do if you have ever done it.
It's not just cooking it on Thursday That's definitely the easy part.
It's all in the preparation.
Weeks in advance you need to make a list and check it twice
The you need to order the list at all the right times so the cranberry sauce gets done two days before and the sweet potatoes the day before.
Then you need to enlist some help.
I call it the all hands on deck announcement!
I let it be known ,weeks in advance, that everyone you know and love takes Wednesday off to help you with the prep work. No exceptions. I have been telling my five year old grandson for a month that he gets to mash the sweet potatoes. He wriggled up his nose so I am not quite sure my announcement fully served its purpose for him.
Then you need to present the dinner as if it is a Hollywood set with the proper decor and fancy dinnerware and fall trimmings that make everyone feel this is just what the pilgrims did at their first Thanksgiving
I don't think the pilgrims really cared if the plates matched but my family sure does:)
Like me, many of you probably have jobs or are running a business and you are fitting the drum stick into your already full daily routine and winging it but...
Like a business or like a job, if you do the prep work right, the results can be very rewarding.
