Time for the Season

Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt,
so that you may know how to answer everyone (Colossians 4:6 TNIV).

It's that time of year again. Fall sports are in full swing and that
can be a great thing. Through sports, kids can learn about fair play,
respect, and determination. Teaching good sportsmanship to our children
is one of the great responsibilities of parenthood. Unfortunately,
"good" sportsmanship isn't the only thing they can learn from their
coaches, teammates, and you. So, how do we go about teaching this
valuable lesson to our kids in a culture that seems to value it less
and less? Good question.

Hey Thomas,

It's more then a good question it's the very foundation that our children need. The problem as I see it is that for many years now more and more parents are depending on the teachers, coaches and others to do their job.

School is for education and one can't expect the teachers to do the job of the parents. The same applies to the coach.

Parenting and upbringing begins at home and is the sole responsibility of the parents. But unfortunately parents are becoming lax in this regard and the children aren't learning the boundries and hence the drugs and the lack of mores and morals.

All the best & Shalom,

Peter

You are so correct Peter, may blame the teachers, coaches and advisors for there childrens behavior, fights on the play ground amongst the coaches and parents? not a good sign at all, bad character. Keep an open mind and heart to your children, treating them with a little respect (mutual), a little privacy (applys with trust), and some home schooling things will look brighter for us all in the future, i have single mothers who teach home school to there kids just because of bad elements in the school yard or in the class rooms. I remembr when i was a tiny rebel of 7 or so and walking down my street , back then people around the hood, mothers especially would try and be your mother if they see something wrong, today things have changed, everyone keeps to them selves depending on where you live, so the kids go to school with no supervision if there walking to and from school. Im in favore of good parenting Single mom or not. Thanks again Peter for your comments, very useful tools to go by (really). Shalom my brother.
