I have just written and illustrated a visit to the Omniplex in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, U.S.A. 
The Omniplex is a huge, two story science museum where you, your children, and your grandchildren can learn about science and the mechanics of science.  Learning modes are amplified by hands on experiments that you decide to do.  "What will happen if --?"  Then try it and see.
As data pours in you can ponder the explanations given and either confirm them, or form new theories of your own.
Then there are the straight exhibits, like of the bicycles, where you can see the evolution of human application.  One huge, monstrous car that I thought was an automobile turned out to be a bicycle.
