Do You Believe in Destiny?
9/23/2007 6:58:14 PM

Hi friends,

I want to share some thoughts here which I believe will make an impact your life in years to come.

The word Destiny, simply put, stands for the pre-determined purpose of a man's life. It represents the purpose for a man's living. According to God's word, every man is born into this world with a pre-determined purpose set by God. This ulitmate purpose of man is what is known as a man's destiny (Jer. 1:4-5; Rom 8:28-30; Eph 1:11-12, Hebrews 10:5-7).

The question then arises, If our lives are already predetermined and the outcome known, why do we have to go through so much trying to live? Well the answer lies in just one word, the most controversial and most misunderstood of God's gift to mankind: WILLPOWER.

WILLPOWER is our ability to make choices whether right or wrong. In mathematics, it is called probability, the possibilities of a likely outcome based on various available choices. However, each choice made is always bound to result in an eventual end product. Think about it: What if you never went to work on Monday, What would be the possible outcome? What if instead of taking that bus or train tomorrow, you decide to walk to work? What if you just decided to give your loving wife a slap first thing tomorrow morning, what would be the outcome? Your ability to take or not to take the above actions is your WILL POWER at work and this ultimately affects your destiny.

There's a writeup i read somewhere and its credited to an anonymous writer:

Be careful of what you think coz they become your words.
Be careful of what you say because they become your actions.
Be careful of your actions because they become your habits.
Be careful of your habits because they become your personality
Be careful of your personality because it becomes your destiny/

How true the above is, is subject to your review. Be that as it may, I believe that it's the responsibility of every man to discover, pursue and take a positive decision to affect his destiny for good (Luke 4:16-22)

Let's take a look at the two steps mentioned above for taking hold of our destinies:

1. Discovery: Life's exploits are actualized on the pedestal of Divine discovery. The word "discover" connotes the opening up of what was hitherto hidden or kept of out of sight. Thus the injunction of Isaiah 60:1.

God's word is a spiritual mine of treasures waiting to be discovered. Every discovery has a price. The price of discovery is diligence, commitment and dedication (2 Tim 2:15). A man who gives himself to discovering his life's purpose is a man who will stand the test of time in all fields of endeavour. God's word is our standard of discovery. When you give God's WORD your attention, the WORLD will give you attention! The elements of discovery include but are not limited to these: Study, Evaluation, and Active Participation (Joshua 1:8).

Well, i've got to stop here... watch out for PART II of this thread. I'd love to have your views concerning the above and what you think of the word destiny. Till then, keep the Faith and Remain Rapturable,

To my spiritual friend Maxwell from Nigeria, i know this is your first time in posting your words here and i would really like to know your background in the next post? It seems you have a good grasp of the word but what sets me back is that these words of yours can be in a forum of your own too? I dont mind if you post but it would be kind to ask first? thank you. God_bless you my new friend.
