There is a report circulating that purports to show that the actual lifetime cost of a Hummer is nearly half that of the Toyota Prius.  Further analysis of the report by other research organizations shows that unequal, and even unrealistic, standards were applied which slanted the report squarely in favor of the Hummer. 

While the Hummer is certainly a fine vehicle for its intended use and audience, there is no way for it to outdo the Toyota Prius in overall value to the environment and economy, including fuel economy, of operation.
