Why Not An Alternative Vehicle? I Need Your Answers ...

I covered on Aug 14th the expense Americans go through with owning a car/truck/SUV and with gas at all time high why not consider an alternate means of transportation.

I do not have the answers to your questions as I have been without a vehicle since March of this year when my car quit and I found out it would cost more to fix than it was worth.  I live in small town Manitoba (not that small we have three large grocerie stores, six gas stations, at least 10 restaurants, well you get the picture.)  I work two miles out of town at a hog processing plant and have always car pooled. I walk or bike to get my mail, visit friends and buy groceries which I then have delivered.  To me it is no hardship until I want to visit my friends in the country.  Simple solution, they come to my house or pick me up and I get to spend a weekend in the country.  So in my opinion unless you live on a farm or an acreage there is no reason to have a vehicle and add to the already overabundance of pollution in the air.
